<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Dean of Liberal Arts and Professional Programs, the faculty member will teach a full academic load, serve as a Quincy College academic expert within the field of English, and carry out other job-related duties as assigned. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: student advising, curriculum development, assignment to college committees, and teaching/learning projects as assigned by the Dean. Duties which may be assigned to a faculty member are set forth in the Quincy Education Association Agreement. Essential duties also include assuming a leadership role in delineating and articulating English content in assigned courses; collaborating with other appropriate faculty in the planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating of English courses, participating in the annual review and revision of course materials, such as outlines, outcomes, books, and assignments; participating in assessment and program review requirements; maintaining currency and awareness of changes within and those effecting the discipline; demonstrating motivation, self-direction, and perseverance toward achieving the philosophy and mission of the Division of Liberal Arts and Quincy College; engaging in the academic life of the college by serving on college committees. This position may require teaching at all campuses and sites of the College.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE: Minimum of a master's degree in English studies from an accredited institution.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Minimum three (3) years teaching experience in the field of English at the college level, preferably in a community college setting.</p> <p>Experience in conducting course design and learning assessments using multiple measures.</p> <p>Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission.</p> <p>Experience instructing students from a diverse background.</p> <p>Experience using technology in the classroom and for distance learning, and traditional/nontraditional methods of instruction.</p> <p>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of Quincy College's certification program (Canvas, Quality Matters, Canvas Studio) for teaching or, in the sole determination of Quincy College, the equivalent of that program.</p> <p>ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated academic excellence as well as compassion and enthusiasm for community college students. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to education and working with a diverse student population. Demonstration of professional activity aimed toward maintaining currency in the discipline.</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A</p> <p>TRAVEL: This position may require teaching at Quincy Campus, Plymouth Campus, and/or Boston Site.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>Teach courses in English, and as otherwise directed by the Provost and/or Dean of the Liberal Arts & Professional Programs.</p> <p>Maintain a regular schedule of office hours and provide appropriate academic counseling, advising, and tutorial support to students.</p> <p>Collaborate with other faculty in the planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating of English and related courses.</p> <p>Provide leadership within the English program and all aspects therein.</p> <p>Participate and/or lead course, program, and degree developments.</p> <p>Collaborate with other faculty across the College to maintain and advance the health and status of the English curriculum.</p> <p>Assist with administrative reporting required by college governance procedures to include but not limited to program review, program/course assessment, accreditation, and others as appropriate.</p> <p>Identify and pursue opportunities to advance the English curriculum and closely related programs, students, and the curriculum.</p> <p>Demonstrate motivation, self-direction, and perseverance towards achieving the philosophy and mission of Quincy College, the Division of Liberal Arts, and the English curriculum.</p> <p>Engage in the academic life of the College by serving on and participating in college committees.</p> <p>Participate in mandatory training/coursework; including but not limited to:</p> <p>Title IX and Sexual Misconduct</p> <p>Sexual Harassment and Non-Discrimination</p> <p>Security Policy and Notification of Security Reporting</p> <p>FERPA</p> <p>Municipal Ethics Law</p> <p>Perform other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>Quincy College is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing an environment that is free from discrimination and harassment based on race, age, creed, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, gender, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or pregnancy.
