The role ensures alignment with district goals and focus areas, supporting the academic and personal growth of all students through a focus on innovation, instructional excellence, and student success, in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law.</p> <p>In addition, this position provides hands-on leadership in program development and improvement, as well as in professional staff development. The role involves actively engaging in the curriculum development process-collaborating with educators to ensure that the curriculum is current, aligned with relevant standards, and reflects best practices in instruction.</p> <p>Essential Performance ResponsIbilities:</p> <p>Additional Duties:</p> <p>Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent of Schools. Note: The above is a descriptive illustration of the tasks and responsibilities and is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <p>Curriculum Development and Evaluation:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead the development, facilitation, and evaluation of PreK-8 curricula across all content areas, ensuring alignment with relevant standards and best instructional practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively engage in the curriculum development process, collaborating with educators to ensure curricula are current and effective.</p> </li></ul> <p>Assessment Coordination:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Coordinate all aspects of student assessment including standardized state and district-wide assessments, Smarter Balanced Assessment and Next Generation Science Assessments.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage the analysis of student assessment data, providing consultation and guidance to district data teams, building principals and grade-level teams to inform instructional decisions.</p> </li></ul> <p>Professional Development:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Coordinate and plan PreK-8 professional development for teaching staff, and K and 1st grade paraeducators.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional learning and stay current with developments in the field of education.</p> </li></ul> <p>Staff Supervision and Collaboration:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate Library Media Specialists, building curriculum coaches (RAMs), Reading and Math Coordinators, Science coaches and the Learning Support Tutors (LSTs).</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with building administrators to support curriculum implementation and improvement, select appropriate assessments, establish effective intervention protocols, and participate in grade-level meetings to provide support.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate the work of Subject Area Division Leaders.</p> </li></ul> <p>Curriculum Alignment and Standards:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Collaborate on the alignment of PreK-12 curricula and facilitate transitions to grades 9-12 as an active member of the Cheshire Curriculum Council.</p> </li><li> <p>Understand, interpret, and facilitate the translation from theory to practice of standards, including but not limited to CT Core Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and the C3 Framework.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the district's strategic initiatives related to high-quality instruction by integrating complex thinking and social-emotional learning skills into content across all subject areas and grade levels.</p> </li></ul> <p>Multilingual Learner (ML) Program Support:</p> <ul> <li>Facilitate and assess the programs and services for MLs including coordination of professional learning, translation services, analysis of ML assessment data, and oversight of the Title III grant and other ML-related grants. </li></ul> <p>Committee Involvement and Instructional Alignment:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Serve as an active member of the district Curriculum Committee of the Board of Education.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as an active member of the Cheshire Curriculum Council.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide frequent visibility in schools and classrooms within the district to support. consistent implementation of instructional practices and curricular initiatives across all schools.</p> </li></ul> <p>Certification/License:</p> <ul> <li>CT State Certification as an Intermediate Administrator (092) or demonstrated proof of eligibility for Connecticut Certification endorsement (092) </li><li>Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's and Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Curriculum Development and/or Administration </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience in a public school system </li><li>Successful leadership position in curriculum, instruction and administration at the elementary/middle school level is required </li></ul> <p>Salary:</p> <p>In accordance with Agreement Between the Cheshire Board of Education and Cheshire Administrative Personnel.</p> <p>Apply:</p> <p>Please apply at www.applitrack.com/cheshire/onlineapp or at www.cheshire.k12.ct.us click on Job Opportunities</p> <p>Strict confidentiality of our candidates will be applied throughout the application and interview process.</p>
