Will be expected to operate plows during winter operations and to obtain the equipment certifications listed above.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications Highway Maintenance Worker Trainee 1:</p> <p>Must be 18 years old, pass physical/medical examination and drug test*, and possess a Class D Driver License.</p> <p>Highway Maintenance Worker Trainee 2:</p> <p>Must be 18 years old, pass physical/medical examination* and drug test; and possess a Class A or B Commercial Driver License with no airbrake restriction. Candidates will be evaluated on their ability to satisfactorily operate a NYSDOT large dump truck within two weeks of appointment. Failure to pass will result in termination.</p> <p>Highway Maintenance Worker 1:</p> <p>Satisfactory completion of the Highway Maintenance Worker Traineeship 2 or one year of experience in the operation of highway construction, maintenance equipment, or other vehicles in excess of 26,000 Gross Vehicle Weight Rating with air brakes and possession of a Class A or B Commercial Driver License with DOT-specified endorsements, and two NYSDOT equipment operation certifications, in addition to the following three specific certifications: heavy dump truck, one person plowing with single or double wing, and front-end loader.</p> <p>Within the first two weeks of employment, applicant must satisfactorily complete NYSDOT Heavy Dump Certification or their employment will be terminated.</p> <p>NOTE: All candidates must pass a pre-employment physical/medical examination* and drug test prior to beginning employment. Cannabis use is not permitted for employees in this title and assignment. Cannabis use will be tested for during the pre-employment screening process and may be the basis for disqualification for employment or may be a basis for removal from employment.</p> <ul> <li>Candidates who meet both of the following MAY be eligible to bypass the pre-employment physical: A valid CDL A or B AND a current (less than 2 years old) CDL Medical Certificate (form MCSA 5876) that meets specific criteria which will be discussed at the time of interview. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments The starting salary for the Highway Maintenance Worker Trainee 1 is $57,465. This amount is comprised of the base salary of $46,759 with an additional geographic pay differential of $10,706, specific to this title and location.</p> <p>The starting salary for the Highway Maintenance Worker Trainee 2 is $59,475. This amount is comprised of the base salary of $48,963 with an additional geographic pay differential of $10,512, specific to this title and location.</p> <p>The starting salary for the Highway Maintenance Worker 1 is $60,143. This amount is comprised of the base salary of $49,743 with an additional geographic pay differential of $10,400, specific to this title and location.</p> <p>In addition, a Mid-Hudson Adjustment of $2,000 or a Downstate Adjustment of $4,000 may also apply depending on the location of the position.</p> <p>Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.</p> <p>The salary range listed reflects the full range for this graded position.
