<p>Position Information</p> <p>Position Number P00072 Position Title Vocational Instructor - Welder (On-Call) Division/Portfolio Trades and Apprenticeship Department/Program Welding Location Kelowna Other Flexible Work Options Your Opportunity</p> <p>The duties and responsibilities of a Vocational Instructor include continuing excellence in one's field, instructional</p> <p>and professional duties, professional development and service.</p> <p>Functions and Duties</p> <p>Instructional duties may include any or all of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Instructional (teaching assignments) </li><li>Course and program preparation and revision </li><li>Student contact </li><li>Student advising </li><li>Evaluation and marking of student work </li><li>Other functions related to instruction </li></ul> <p>Professional duties may include any or all of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Curriculum development </li><li>Student registration </li><li>Pre-registration duties </li></ul> <p>Service may include any or all of the following:</p> <ul> <li>School visitations </li><li>Participation on OC committees </li><li>Attendance at articulation meetings </li><li>Representing OC at other functions </li><li>Administrative and other duties </li></ul> <p>Professional development activity that is intended to promote teaching excellence, subject area competence, and technical competence in the area of professional or instructional expertise.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ol> <li> <p>Successful completion of a related apprenticeship program and a Certificate of Apprenticeship with an Interprovincial endorsement.</p> </li><li> <p>An undergraduate degree and post secondary teaching experience are preferred; however, applicants with an equivalent combination of teaching and work experience may be considered.</p> </li><li> <p>An Instructor's Diploma or valid BC Teacher's Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred, and will be required following appointment in accordance with the Collective Agreement.</p> </li><li> <p>Six to ten years recent relevant experience.</p> </li></ol> <p>Skills and Abilities</p> <p>Candidates must be committed to a team approach, demonstrate good written and oral English skills and have good interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional teaching record with demonstrated learner-centred teaching philosophy. Candidates will be comfortable in a computerized environment and demonstrate knowledge of programs relevant to their discipline. Typical instructional week is four days and would not exceed 30 hours.</p> <p>Initial on-call contract is setup until Jun 30, 2026 but is not a guarantee of work for the entire contract period.</p> <p>Annual Salary/Hourly Rate Salary range $71,846 to $115,129 annually; normal starting salary between $78,872 and $85,897 annually, dependent on relevant education and experience.
