<p>08/13/2025</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY</p> <p>INTERNAL/EXTERNAL</p> <p>POSITION: Nutrition Services - Café Manager (Non-Union)</p> <p>LOCATION: William Penn High School</p> <p>CLOSING DATE: Jun 9, 2025</p> <p>START DATE: August 13, 2025</p> <p>WORK YEAR: 10 Months</p> <p>COMPENSATION: Salary Based on CSD Nutrition Manager Salary Scale</p> <p>FLSA STATUS: Exempt</p> <p>POSITION GOAL:</p> <p>Manages and coordinates the day-to-day food service operations of an assigned school site(s). Oversees and assists cafeteria employees with food preparation and serving, confirming quantities and quality of food items are available to all students. Successful completion of job duties will result in an environment(s) where breakfast and lunches are prepared, served, and stored in an atmosphere that promotes food safety, sanitation and a warm, inviting eating experience for students and staff. Additionally, this position may be responsible for CACFP meal preparation/distribution and/or meal preparation for additional contracted locations.</p> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.</p> <ul> <li>ServSafe certification required. </li><li>SNA levels 1, 2, 3 are preferred. </li><li>Completion or willingness to complete Food Service Unit Courses I-IV. </li><li>Minimum of 3 years food service management experience with supervisory experience. </li><li>Basic reading, writing and computation skills. Good written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of how to manage group dynamics </li><li>Cooking knowledge and/or quantity cooking/batch cooking experience preferred. </li><li>Must have knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the requirements of the USDA Child Nutrition Program. </li><li>Expert knowledge of HACCP procedures during food preparation and storage. </li><li>Evidence of a cooperative attitude, leadership, and ability to work well with students, building-level personnel, and district-level staff. </li><li>Intermediate knowledge in computer skills such as in Microsoft applications such as word, excel, outlook, Google Drive, and willingness to operate a cash register. </li><li>Evidence of dependability, reliability, and trustworthiness </li><li>Must have a valid driver's license and access to personal transportation. </li><li>Evidence of managing multiple priorities, communicating effectively with students and staff, dealing with unexpected stressful situations, and remaining calm in emergencies. </li><li>As a manager, the incumbent is considered "on call" for emergencies outside of the regularly scheduled workday, including weekends and holidays. </li><li>Physical ability to perform above duties (lift at least 40 lbs.). </li><li>Demonstrates sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups. </li><li>Acceptable Criminal Background Report and no entries on Child Abuse Registry. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the District and the Child Nutrition Department. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.</p> <ul> <li>Supervise the preparation of all menu items according to a pre-planned menu and using standardized recipes. </li><li>Ensures all meals in the school nutrition program are prepared in compliance with federal, state, and local nutrition and wellness regulations, policies, and procedures. </li><li>Follows guidelines for serving and offering meal components to students. </li><li>Supervise the preparation of special diets from pre-planned menus and standardized recipes. </li><li>Supervise the preparation of daily menu items in appropriate quantity, assuring adequate portions and avoiding over production. Responsible for reading recipes and converting measurements. Shall have the ability to maintain written production records and temperature records using the Smart Temp system. </li><li>Implement proper HACCP procedures while ordering, receiving, preparing, and storing all food in accordance with federal, state & district procedures. </li><li>Ensure proper use, operation and cleanliness of all kitchen equipment including but not limited to steamers, convection ovens, dish machines, slicers, mixers, and all other kitchen equipment as required. </li><li>Operate the POS system, back of house and online ordering systems. </li><li>Keep all prep and storage areas and equipment clean following established Board of Health and department standard operating procedures. </li><li>Maintain perpetual food inventory and take physical inventory utilizing a computerized system. </li><li>Demonstrate leadership ability to provide verbal and written directives to staff. </li><li>Maintain and submit operational reports such as invoices, timesheets, day end reports, inventory in an organized and timely manner. </li><li>Plan special events, marketing and decorations and communicate effectively with the building principal and nutrition services office. </li><li>Implements customer service techniques to promote customer satisfaction. </li><li>Observe tasks that need to be done to expedite the preparation, serving and cleanup and complete such tasks without regard to classification such as sweeping the floors or sanitizing cafeteria tables. </li><li>Display to students, faculty, staff, coworkers, and administration an attitude of accommodation and cooperation. </li><li>Supervise, train, and evaluate food service staff. </li><li>Wear appropriate apparel while working. </li><li>Participates in professional development training and exhibits professional behavior. </li><li>Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and/or fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. This job requires repetitive stooping, twisting, and bending. The employee must be able to tolerate extremes in temperatures.
