<p>Infection Prevention and Control Nurse</p> <p>Full Time, Day Shift, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.</p> <p>Position Summary: This position is responsible for maintaining clinical competency as evidenced by application of integrated nursing knowledge and skills, leadership, and communication skills. Exhibits organizational ability related to workflow for maintaining IPC practices in the center. Integrates current standards of practice as well as local, state, and federal regulations related to IPC practices in the center. Practices continuous quality improvement thinking and problem-solving skills.</p> <p>Specific Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for educating all center partners regarding IPC practices as directed by the </li></ul> <p>DON/ADON.</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for updating all center partners regarding changes to IPC practices as </li></ul> <p>directed by the DON/ADON.</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for reporting of infections and /or cluster illnesses to indicated to the </li></ul> <p>appropriate governing body i.e., Department of Health, NHSN, CDC, etc.</p> <ul> <li>Involved in performing QAPI for IPC practices in the center including but not limited to </li></ul> <p>donning/doffing PPE, practices related to healthcare acquired infections, etc.</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for initial and ongoing Fit Testing for Center partners. </li><li>Maintains appropriate documentation related to fit testing and IPC training for surveys. </li><li>Maintains partner privacy related to any medical evaluations related to fit testing or </li></ul> <p>other IPC related procedures.</p> <ul> <li>Maintains open and ongoing communication with patients and families, providing </li></ul> <p>opportunity and encouragement to participate in decision making related to IPC</p> <p>practices.</p> <ul> <li>Monitor unit/units to ensure that appropriate nursing care (according to established </li></ul> <p>policies and procedures) is being provided and that doctors and families are following</p> <p>appropriate IPC practices.</p> <ul> <li>Assume responsibility for assisting with meds and treatments as needed (including IV </li></ul> <p>fluids and IV meds).</p> <ul> <li>Assist with admitting patients as required. </li><li>Assist with hiring and in the orientation of new nursing partners regarding IPC practices </li></ul> <p>in the center.</p> <ul> <li>Assures the personal dignity and physical safety of each patient as related to IPC </li></ul> <p>practices.</p> <ul> <li>Perform other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Licensure: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Maintains a current unencumbered licensed to practice in the state employed. IPC Certification obtained within six months of obtaining position.</p> <p>Experience: 2- 5 years experience as an LPN or RN required. Infection control and/or risk manager experience preferred.</p> <p>About NHC Fort Sanders: Our campus is home to a 166-bed post-acute 24-hour skilled nursing Health Care Center. We see many individuals who need skilled nursing care after a stroke, joint replacement surgery, a cardiac procedure or a serious illness.</p> <p>NHC Fort Sanders is located 2120 Highland Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37916</p> <p>EOE</p>
