<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Biology Department invites applications for a full-time Tenure-Track Faculty position with a specialization in plant biology to begin September 1, 2026. We are a community of teacher-scholars committed to providing a vibrant and inclusive undergraduate education through hands-on learning, dedicated advising and mentorship, and a collaborative environment.</p> <p>The successful candidate will develop and teach biology courses that engage a student body with diverse academic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. Primary teaching responsibilities are courses in plant biology, including a field course in plant identification in our New England setting; general biology for either majors or non-majors; and an upper-level course in the candidate's area of expertise. The department is especially interested in candidates who could complement our curriculum in other areas such as computational genetics or bioinformatics and/or curate our teaching collection of plants.</p> <p>The candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an active research program that provides meaningful opportunities for undergraduate students. The candidate will mentor and advise undergraduate students, employing evidence-based strategies to support student success, including first-generation students and those from racial and ethnic groups historically underrepresented in STEM. They will also provide service to the department and institution through participation in our model of shared governance, which may include contributions to curriculum development and program assessment.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>A doctoral degree in Biology or a related life sciences field; ABD candidates will be considered provided the degree will be completed by August 31, 2026. </li><li>A record of, or potential for, excellent undergraduate teaching in related subject areas and research that involves undergraduates. </li><li>A record of collaboration in a team environment, with skills applicable to faculty/student collaboration. </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with inclusive pedagogical strategies supporting students from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. </li><li>Experience or potential for mentoring undergraduate students using practices that support first-generation students and those from groups historically underrepresented in STEM. </li><li>Experience with or a demonstrated willingness to participate in teaching, mentoring, research, or service activities that promote the growth of an equitable and inclusive academic environment. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) bargaining unit at a faculty rank commensurate with experience and credentials. Salary commensurate with experience in accordance with Appendix O of the MSCA contract. A reasonable starting salary range to expect for a new faculty member appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor is $75,000-80,000.</p> <p>Framingham State University conducts criminal history and sexual offender record checks on recommended finalists prior to final employment for all positions.</p> <p>Framingham State University is an equal opportunity employer.
