Posting Number 20162774F Job Description</p> <p>Ohio University Chillicothe is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor of Instruction, Nursing Skills Lab emphasis, non-tenured 11-month position renewable annually starting May 1, 2025. The majority of this role includes lab/simulation coordination, teaching, and assigned service commitments within the School of Nursing and may include some clinical instruction.</p> <p>This is a full-time, in-person position on the Chillicothe campus serving nursing programs at the associate and baccalaureate degree levels. Reporting to the Associate Director of Nursing at the Chillicothe campus, this position is expected to plan, implement, and evaluate instruction using various methods and delivery modes as part of a collaborative and unified team.</p> <p>Functions and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provides student instruction and evaluation for skills/procedures. </li><li>Identifies needs of learners relative to the objectives of the program. </li><li>Works with course faculty colleagues to plan activities to meet course objectives, to discuss student concerns, to evaluate students' progress, and to determine actions needed. </li><li>Works with other faculty colleagues to cultivate a lab environment conducive to learning. </li><li>Develops, implements and evaluates nursing simulated learning experiences. </li><li>Collaborates with course faculty colleagues and Associate Director/School Director to ensure instructional resources meet the nursing program's needs. </li><li>Assists students referred by course faculty colleagues in the development and implementation of remediation plans related to the academic or psychomotor skill performance of nursing students. </li><li>Participates in nursing faculty/committee meetings, and nursing course meetings. </li><li>Serves as a liaison with community partners to maintain current practices in compliance with contemporary educational practices. </li><li>Mentor lab assistants and/or student lab employees. </li><li>Facilitates maintenance of equipment and instructional lab resources for the lab. </li><li>Submits orders for equipment and supplies to the Associate Director. </li><li>Performs and maintains an annual inventory of nursing lab equipment and supplies. </li><li>Prepares the setup of specific skills labs for instructional purposes. </li><li>Maintains database of companies to use for required lab equipment and supplies. </li></ul> <p>Contacts companies as necessary regarding equipment and supplies for the lab.</p> <ul> <li>Promotes and maintains a positive and collaborative working environment for students and faculty. </li></ul> <p>Service activities will occur within the School of Nursing (SON), the College, the Regional Campus, and the discipline of nursing. Service activities will include, but may not be limited to SON committees, special assignments, active participation in professional groups, and relevant campus and community activities.</p> <p>All School of Nursing faculty members are expected to collaboratively and actively engage in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student instruction and to participate in School of Nursing governance to ensure program standards and outcomes are fully met.</p> <p>The School of Nursing has six locations in Southern and Central Ohio and is one of the top 10 largest nursing schools in the country. For more information about Regional Higher Education, please visit www.ohio.edu/regional.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>A BSN degree from an accredited school of professional nursing is required by time of appointment, and a Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) within five years of hire.</p> <p>At least two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse. Must hold a current, unencumbered license in the State of Ohio as a registered nurse.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>At least five years' experience in the nursing profession with at least two years as a faculty member in an associate degree or BSN program is preferred.</p> <p>An MSN or doctorate in nursing or a related field is preferred.</p> <p>Department CHILI Nursing Pay Rate</p> <p>Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.
