<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Title: Technical Director, Theatre</p> <p>Unit : Part-Time Non-Unit Support Staff</p> <p>Department: Theater, Liberal Arts Division</p> <p>Reports to: Department Chair of Theater</p> <p>Date: August 7, 2025</p> <p>General Summary: The Theatre Technical Director will oversee all technical aspects of MCC's productions with a primary focus on building, painting, installing, and striking scenic elements.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Advise Director of Production on the technical specifications, construction costs and usage of technical equipment required for the individual projects and supervise the implementation of approved technical designs </li><li>Supervise and assist with scenic construction to insure support of the artistic vision within the limitations of schedule, labor, and budget </li><li>Attend meetings and rehearsals as needed, to supervise and assist in the technical aspects of mounting successful productions </li><li>Assist with the preparation and control of annual scenic budgets; maintain inventory and order specialized scenic supplies </li><li>Administrative tasks include scenic budget creation, expense tracking and allocation </li><li>Assist in recruiting, onboarding, training, and assignment of technical staff </li><li>Provide logistical support for facility rentals and visiting productions regarding safety, technical characteristics, and other areas of facility operations </li><li>Monitor the condition of equipment and technical assets of the theatre including scene shop, storage, stage, and rigging equipment; arrange for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints; perform preventive maintenance on equipment </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience </li><li>Knowledge of theatrical rigging and double purchase fly system </li><li>Knowledge of ACAD or Vectorworks </li><li>Excellent time management, organization, and administrative skills </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Salary Range: $35 per hour in accordance with Middlesex Community College Part-Time Wage Schedule</p> <p>Location: Lowell campus with occasional travel to Bedford as needed</p> <p>Hours: 18.5 per week, schedule to be determined upon hire</p> <p>Expected Start Date: September 2025</p> <p>Application Deadline: August 28, 2025</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>All applicants must apply online by submitting:</p> <ul> <li>Cover Letter </li><li>Resume </li><li>Names and contact information for three (3) professional references </li></ul> <p>Pre-Employment Requirements:</p> <p>The College will not sponsor applicants for work visas.</p> <p>All offers of employment at Middlesex Community College are contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.
