Drexel is continuing to monitor the situation and will share updates as they become available for calendar year 2026.</p> <p>Maintenance Technician</p> <p>Apply now Job no: 504954</p> <p>Work type: Full-Time</p> <p>Location: Salus Campus - Elkins Park</p> <p>Categories: Drexel University, Office of the President</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance and renovation of the University's properties and facilities to include leased and/or rented area's owned and/or occupied by the University.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment such as pumps, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, emergency lighting, motors and machinery. </li><li>Installs, repairs and replacements mechanical, kitchen and electrical equipment including pumps, boilers, HVAC equipment, light ballast's, motors, plumbing, door hardware, etc. as required. </li><li>Repairs and renovations to include electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall installation, doorframes, hardware, furniture on such items as chairs, lock sets, shelving, stair treads, desks etc. as required </li><li>Applies primer, paint, varnish, stains, lacquer, etc. to the interior and exterior surfaces of the University property. </li><li>Installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain the heating, water, gas, drainage and other systems of the University. </li><li>Lifts and moves equipment, materials, supplies and furniture such as desks and file cabinets within the same location or from one campus location to another, as required. </li><li>Performs outside campus work assignments such as trash removal, snow removal, etc., as required. </li><li>Assigned special projects, as needed such as trash removal, cleaning and landscaping. </li><li>Other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of HS Diploma or GED. </li><li>Minimum of 5 years of experience in general maintenance to include plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry fields. </li><li>Valid driver's license in state of residence with acceptable driving history. </li><li>Ability to climb ladders, perform manual labor and lift objects of up to 80 lbs. </li><li>Must be able to operate power tools related to maintenance, snow removal, cleaning and landscaping. </li><li>Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding or another elevated lifting platform devices. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. </li><li>Ability to use desktop computer and smartphone to access computerized programs such as work orders, training and internet searches for parts/manuals. </li><li>Installation of telecommunications and computer cables. </li><li>Ability to work independently. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Lifting demands > 50lbs </li></ul> <p>Location</p> <ul> <li>Salus Campus - Elkins Park </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>This is a Full-Time Union position classified as Non-Exempt.
