We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The MGB "Community Care Van Program" is a new, innovative mobile health program dedicated to increasing access to quality healthcare for historically marginalized communities in the greater Boston area. The Medical Assistant (MA) is an integral member of a mobile health team that provides health services including screening and treatment for hypertension, diabetes, substance use disorder, and colorectal cancer screenings.</p> <p>Under the direction of the Mobile Nurse Practitioner (NP) or other provider, the Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians, nurse practitioners, and/or nurses with evaluation, management, and treatment of patients who seek care at one of the mobile clinics. Their primary roles are to register patients in the electronic medical record system; to assure efficient patient flow; to assist providers within the scope of the MA skill set; to maintain neat, clean, and safe patient care areas, and to promote patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Assists mobile team with the set-up and take-down of the mobile clinic site, including picking up vaccination/medical equipment from designated hospital</p> <p>Assists Operations Manager with patient flow; greets arriving patients and directs to appropriate location as needed.</p> <p>Welcomes patient and registers/updates registration in EPIC</p> <p>Assists the Provider and/or Nursing staff with patient care during the visit including</p> <ul> <li> <p>Conducting blood pressure checks</p> </li><li> <p>Collecting specimens and performing CLIA-waived tests according to protocol, including but not limited to:</p> </li><li> <p>Blood (phlebotomy)</p> </li><li> <p>Finger sticks (HbA1c point-of-care testing)</p> </li><li> <p>Assisting with clinical documentation relevant to patient visit on EPIC as directed</p> </li></ul> <p>Documents testing/results and other critical data per protocols; uses appropriate flow sheets and screening forms for chronic disease management Assists the Provider and Nursing staff with work outside the visit including but not limited to</p> <ul> <li>Conducting follow-up care post-visit as directed (such as communicating test results to patients as directed by a provider or nurse, scheduling patients for follow up visits, and performing check-ins for patients placed on chronic disease management plan) </li><li>Faxing, mailing, or calling in prescription renewals as directed by the prescribing provider and under the supervision of the prescriber </li></ul> <p>Maintains neat, clean, and safe exam rooms and treatment areas</p> <ul> <li>Assures patient care areas are neat, clean, professional-looking </li><li>Assures exam and treatment areas are properly stocked, equipped, and secured </li><li>Assures all equipment is in good working order </li><li>Cleans exam rooms and equipment after each patient use per protocol </li></ul> <p>Promotes customer satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs</p> <ul> <li>Recognizes and respects cultural diversity </li><li>Adapts communication to the patient's understanding </li><li>Employs professional telephone and interpersonal techniques </li></ul> <p>Functions as an integral part of the mobile health care team</p> <ul> <li>Interacts in a professional, cooperative way with other staff </li><li>Accepts and delegates responsibilities in a positive manner </li><li>Is a team player and offers to help with tasks outside of their role </li><li>Engages in constructive problem solving with others in the practice as problems arise </li><li>Attends and participates in practice staff meetings </li></ul> <p>Performs other tasks (when not "in the field") as delegated by Operations Manager</p> <p>Additional Job Details (if applicable)</p> <p>SKILLS REQUIRED</p> <ul> <li>Ability to be self-sufficient and take initiative </li><li>Excellent critical thinking skills </li><li>Excellent communication skills </li><li>Ability to be flexible and adept to last minute changes as it pertains to scheduling, workflow, and other operational logistics </li><li>Ability to work evening hours and occasional weekends </li><li>Comply with established risk management and safety procedures </li><li>Comply with all local, state and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations </li><li>Sound judgment and problem-solving ability </li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks in a complex and busy environment and see them through to completion </li><li>Accuracy and attention to detail </li><li>Maintain or obtain CPR certification and participate in site-based CPR drills (may be obtained through onboarding) </li></ul> <p>SKILLS PREFERRED</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual candidate in Spanish is strongly preferred </li><li>Experience working with diverse populations and community organizations </li><li>Phlebotomy training </li></ul> <p>LICENSES/ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li>Medical Assistant Certification is preferred </li><li>Previous clinical experience working as a medical assistant, EMT, home health aide, or nursing assistant is preferred </li></ul> <p>Remote Type</p> <p>Hybrid</p> <p>Work Location</p> <p>73 High Street</p> <p>Scheduled Weekly Hours</p> <p>40</p> <p>Employee Type</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Work Shift</p> <p>Day (United States of America)</p> <p>Pay Range</p> <p>$17.36 - $24.45/Hourly</p> <p>Grade</p> <p>3</p> <p>At Mass General Brigham, we believe in recognizing and rewarding the unique value each team member brings to our organization.
