Monitors and manages medications, patient rooms, State vaccines, medical equipment and supplies, laundry, education booklets and information. Provides management of assigned doctors' and/or nurse practitioners' patients, i.e., callbacks, and test results, under their specific directions.</p> <p>Licensed Practical Nurse Essential Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assists their provider by documenting chief complaint, essential data, i.e., height, weight, blood pressure, head circumference. </li><li>Maintains an even distribution of patients for the assigned nurse practitioner or pediatrician and keeps the assigned rooms properly supplied of medical, as well as educational material. </li><li>After consultation with provider, reinforces education and health information with parent/guardian/patient. </li><li>Answers a variety of medical questions or refers them to the doctor or nurse practitioner when necessary. </li><li>Secure all exam rooms, lab rooms; restock with supplies on a daily basis. </li><li>Retrieve special orders from Lab and Xray when provider requests. </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to follow appropriate procedures/production techniques related to the care of patients from newborn - 20 years. </li><li>Assists Pediatricians and Nurse Practitioners by documenting health related data such as, height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, urine and chief complaint. </li><li>Is responsible to provide lead screens and immunizations on well child visits. </li><li>Maintain updated immunization usage on a monthly basis for State of Connecticut. </li></ul> <p>Licensed Practical Nurse Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to deal with public, being tactful and understanding. </li><li>Skilled in administering allergy shots and immunizations. </li><li>Ability to obtain necessary data in a professional courteous manner while preparing patients for their exam. </li><li>Good verbal skills. </li><li>Good physical and mental health. </li></ul> <p>Licensed Practical Nurse Job Duties/Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to maintain confidentiality in a professional manner. </li><li>Demonstrate competency in utilizing resources to accommodate cultural needs of patients and customers such as dietary, religious and language needs. </li><li>Demonstrate efforts to maintain and improve job specific competencies. Incorporates new knowledge into practice. </li><li>Responsible for providing an even flow of patients for her assigned physician and/or nurse practitioner. </li><li>Alert physician or nurse practitioner of emergencies and prepares room and patient for doctor. </li><li>Assist doctor when needed. </li><li>Responsible for giving allergy shots and observes patient for reactions. </li><li>Obtain strep cultures of patients, documents and delivers kits to laboratory in a timely manner. </li><li>Notify all patients with positive strep results and under the direction of the practitioners, calls the pharmacies. </li><li>Responsible for calling the patient and pharmacy if positive throat culture. </li><li>Assist the physician with minor procedures as needed such as, PKU, sutures, lumbar punctures. </li><li>Responsible for managing her assigned physician and/or nurse practitioners' daily patients, through their directives, all call backs, etc. if the abnormalities or positive results of lab, Xray, EKG reports. </li><li>Advise and answer questions of clients on the phone or in person according to the practices policies and protocols. </li><li>Retrieve any equipment, special culture kits for the physician when requested. </li><li>Maintain even distribution of clients to scheduled doctors and rooms. </li><li>Responsible for ordering medical equipment, supplies and pharmaceutical supplies. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Licensed Practical Nurse Education and Experience Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma Required - College Course Preferred. </li><li>Licensed Practical Nurse Degree Required. </li><li>Current Connecticut Licensure Required. </li><li>Two years as Licensed Practical Nurse in hospital or office setting required. </li></ul> <p>Why Choose Day Kimball Health?
