<p>Are you a highly skilled and knowledgeable welding technician? Would like to help develop a new generation of skilled welders in a classroom setting? If so, then Kalamazoo Valley Community College may have the ideal part-time opportunity for you.</p> <p>Kalamazoo Valley is currently seeking a part-time instructor to teach in our welding program during the fall semester of 2025. We are looking for an experienced welder, preferably with some teaching or mentoring experience, to provide instruction for WELD 120 Introduction to Welding</p> <p>Skills and Knowledge Required:</p> <ul> <li>Welding lab machinery / operational safety oriented. </li><li>Excellent hands on welding skills. </li><li>Excellent communication, classroom / group delivery skills. </li></ul> <p>Course Description:</p> <p>This course is the introductory welding course designed for welders and non-welders. It covers the basic safe operation of the oxy-fuel welding, cutting, and brazing systems along with training in the basic electric arc welding processes, SMAW (arc), GMAW (mig), GTAW (tig), and FCAW. These processes provide the skills necessary to select and operate welding equipment safely.</p> <p>Student Outcomes:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate knowledge of weld inspection and testing techniques. </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of welding symbols. </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to select the proper welding machines and equipment for the job. </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to properly use a cutting torch in making square cuts as well as miter cuts. </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to weld a strong butt, lap, and fillet weld. </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of proper heat treatments to metals through welding. </li><li>Demonstrate ability to braze and braze weld. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree in a related field and four (4) years minimum experience in the field; OR journeyman (completion of an apprenticeship) and four (4) years minimum experience in the field; OR certificate in a related field and four (4) years minimum experience in the field; OR high school diploma/GED and seven (7) years minimum experience in the field. </li><li>Knowledge/experience in GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, Oxy-Fuel Welding, Cutting and Brazing and the Thermal Cutting processes, along with the ability to read welding blueprints and welding symbols is required. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Prior secondary or post-secondary teaching experience desired, preferably at the community college level. </li><li>Advanced welding process experience preferred. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Extended periods of standing and walking. </li><li>Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. </li></ul> <p>Work Hours: Tuesdays 7:00 pm - 10:20 pm, Thursdays 7:00 pm - 10:25 pm Posting Date 06/19/2025 Closing Date: Special Instructions to Applicants:</p> <ul> <li>Please apply online at: jobs.kvcc.edu. </li><li>Upload copies of all relevant certifications with online application. </li><li>This position will remain posted until filled.
