<p>POSITION TITLE: PHARMACY TECHNICIAN- FLOAT</p> <p>FLSA: NON-EXEMPT</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Pharmacy Technician Float plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the pharmacy while providing excellent patient care. This position includes a variety of responsibilities, including floating to different pharmacy locations as needed.</p> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>None </li></ul> <p>Duties/Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Prepare, label, and package medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist while processing prescriptions and refills to maintain complete and accurate patient records. </li><li>Mix or compound medications as necessary, following established protocols and safety guidelines. </li><li>Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment essential for the preparation and dispensing of medications. </li><li>Monitor medication stock levels to ensure availability, reorder supplies as needed, and help stock shelves by checking expiration dates and quantities on hand. </li><li>Verify patient eligibility for Medicaid, HCHCP, and other third-party payers, while pulling and replacing filed prescriptions needing refills and performing other filing tasks as required. </li><li>Answer phone calls, responding to routine inquiries from physicians, nurses, and patients, and refer more complex questions to the pharmacist. </li><li>Greet patients, accept prescriptions, and provide basic information regarding medications and pharmacy services. </li><li>Assist patients with insurance claims, billing issues, and applications for medication assistance programs. </li><li>Accurately enter prescription and patient data into pharmacy systems, ensuring organized records for prescriptions, transactions, and regulatory compliance. </li><li>Support the submission of insurance claims and resolve discrepancies with payers. </li><li>Ensure proper storage and handling of medications, including controlled substances, to maintain quality and compliance. </li><li>Conduct quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) activities, keeping records of statistical data, and alert pharmacists to potential stock shortages or increased usage trends. </li><li>Assist with drug recall procedures and maintain proper documentation for compliance-related activities. </li><li>Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations governing pharmacy operations. </li><li>Float to different pharmacy locations as needed to provide support, ensuring continuity of care and operations across various settings. Mileage is included in salary. </li><li>Perform additional tasks as needed to support the centers. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. </li><li>Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. </li><li>Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. </li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. </li><li>Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. </li><li>Must be able to effectively manage workflow and maintain high-quality standards in environments where staffing levels may be below ideal, demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks and collaborate with the team under pressure. </li><li>Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and related software. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent is required. </li><li>Pharmacy Technician diploma is required </li><li>Pharmacy Technician transcripts is required. </li><li>Valid Florida Pharmacy Technician State License. </li><li>BLS is required within three months of hire. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to stand for long durations while filling prescriptions and consulting with patients. </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. </li><li>Manual dexterity to handle small objects, such as pills, and operate dispensing equipment accurately. </li><li>Must be able to travel to various center locations as required. </li></ul>
