<p>AQUATICS MANAGER</p> <p>TOWN OF WESTWOOD</p> <p>The Town of Westwood seeks a qualified aquatic professional to manage all aspects of the Westwood aquatics facility and programs. The Aquatics Manager is a hands-on leader who plays an active role in the daily operation of the facility while supervising staff, overseeing programs, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all users. Working closely with two Assistant Aquatics Managers and a team of seasonal staff and volunteers, the Aquatics Manager is expected to lead by example, foster a positive team culture, and actively contribute to the day-to-day work required to operate a busy year-round aquatic facility.</p> <p>The successful candidate will be a collaborative and service-oriented professional who is equally comfortable teaching a swim lesson, troubleshooting a facility issue, coaching staff through a difficult situation, or developing long-term plans for the aquatics program.</p> <p>Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Provides overall leadership and management of the Town's aquatics facility, programs, services, and staff. </li><li>Works alongside staff in the daily operation of the facility, assisting with pool maintenance, facility oversight, program delivery, customer service, and other operational needs. </li><li>Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates employees while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and excellent customer service. </li><li>Develops, implements, oversees, and actively participates in aquatics programming, including swim lessons, specialty programs, and winter and summer swim teams. </li><li>Teaches swim lessons, certification courses, and other aquatics programs as needed to support program operations. </li><li>Collaborates with Recreation Department staff to develop and deliver programs, special events, and community initiatives. </li><li>Participates in community events and outreach activities, including Westwood Day and other Recreation Department programs. </li><li>Oversees and participates in pool maintenance activities, including water chemistry testing, facility inspections, filtration systems maintenance, equipment monitoring, cleanliness, and compliance with all applicable regulations governing public swimming pools. </li><li>Oversees facility scheduling, rentals, and contracted services to maximize community access and operational efficiency. </li><li>Develops and administers operating budgets, revolving fund projections, and capital improvement projects in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Recreation. </li><li>Monitors revenues, expenditures, participation trends, and program performance; prepares reports and recommendations to support decision-making. </li><li>Maintains required records, permits, inspections, certifications, and operational documentation. </li><li>Builds and maintains positive relationships with participants, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners; responds to concerns and resolves issues in a timely and professional manner. </li><li>Represents the Recreation Department at community events, public meetings, and professional organizations. </li><li>Maintains current knowledge of aquatics industry standards, safety practices, and regulatory requirements. </li><li>Nights and weekends required. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred. </li><li>Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in aquatics, recreation, or a related field, including at least two (2) years of supervisory or lead staff experience. </li><li>Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. </li><li>Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining aquatic facilities, including knowledge of pool systems, water chemistry, safety practices, and regulatory compliance. </li><li>Experience teaching swim lessons, coaching aquatic programs, or delivering aquatics instruction. </li><li>Demonstrated success leading, motivating, training, and developing employees in a team-oriented environment. </li><li>Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service, and conflict-resolution skills. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team and contribute directly to daily operations while balancing broader management responsibilities. </li><li>Strong organizational, administrative, and budget management skills. </li><li>Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations and exercise sound judgment under pressure. </li></ul> <p>Special Requirements/Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>Current Water Safety Instructor Certification. </li><li>American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, including CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. </li><li>First Aid Certification. </li><li>Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred. </li><li>Valid driver's license. </li></ul> <p>Why Westwood:</p> <ul> <li>Competitive compensation: Salary range of $83,161 106,159, depending on qualifications. </li><li>Flexibility and balance: Generous time off, and a strong organizational commitment to work-life integration. </li><li>Investment in your growth: Staff are actively supported and encouraged to pursue professional development and take on leadership roles in professional associations. </li><li>Whole-person focus: At all levels of the organization, we value and support the full well-being of our employees, not just the work they produce. </li><li>Collaborative culture: Work alongside a supportive, team-oriented staff with opportunities to contribute to cross-departmental initiatives and tackle complex community challenges together. </li><li>Meaningful, impactful work: Westwood is an engaged and active community with a strong commitment to thoughtful growth and planning, offering the opportunity to shape projects and policies that have a lasting impact. </li><li>Comprehensive benefits: Robust benefits package including health, retirement, and other employee supports. </li></ul> <p>Apply by June 26, 2026.
