<ul> <li>Can create and instruct class with proper music and cueing. </li><li>Basic knowledge of physiology, anatomy, health & fitness testing and weight control is essential </li><li>Demonstrate modifications of intensity and impact </li><li>Encourage and motivate participants to work at own pace </li><li>Uses proper cueing (visual, correctional and motivational) </li><li>Manage and maintain equipment required for class </li><li>Use safety techniques to properly instruct students </li><li>Monitor and record class numbers for future class planning </li><li>Communicate clearly and effectively with participants making announcements prior to class </li><li>Effectively instruct and maintain a safe, learning atmosphere </li><li>Create a welcoming environment for participants </li><li>Attends staff meetings </li><li>Consistently available to sub when asked </li><li>Communicates with supervisor regarding any concerns (participants, equipment, room, etc) </li><li>Accurately complete paperwork required (timesheet, accident forms, etc) </li><li>Assure own professional growth through reading, studying meetings and attending conferences related to fitness classes </li></ul> <p>Education:  High School Graduate/GED</p> <p>Experience:  Knowledge and/or background of the specific program, program related experience desired</p> <ul> <li>Have current accredited group fitness certification (i.e. NETA, ACE, ACSM etc); specific class certification a plus (i.e. ZUMBA, TRX, Pilates, Yoga, etc) </li><li>CPR and First Aid certifications required within first 60 days of employment </li><li>Two or more years of group fitness instruction preferred </li><li>Shall wear Parks and Recreation staff uniform per the City of Appleton dress code </li><li>Adhere to the City of Appleton and Parks and Recreation Department policies and procedures </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Pay Grade: Certified Fitness Instructor</p> <p>Employment Season: Seasonal - Ongoing</p> <p>Work Location: Scheig Center- Memorial Park</p>
