<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION OVERVIEW:</p> <p>Our district is seeking a compassionate and skilled School Integrated Occupational Therapist to join our team of dedicated professionals supporting students with physical needs. This educational support role is essential in helping students access their learning environments by removing physical barriers and promoting independence through targeted interventions. Working under the supervision of the Director of Pupil Services, the Integrated Occupational Therapist provides school-based services that are educationally relevant and tailored to each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan. This position involves collaboration with teachers, families, and support staff, as well as consultation and training to ensure inclusive educational experiences for all students.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Conduct formal and informal occupational therapy evaluations to identify strengths, needs, and barriers to educational participation.</p> </li><li> <p>Gather data through observation in natural environments (e.g., classroom, cafeteria, playground).</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate in PPT/IEP meetings to write measurable, educationally relevant goals and determine appropriate service delivery models (direct, consultative, co-teaching, or integrated).</p> </li><li> <p>Develop occupational therapy service recommendations that are clearly aligned to special education eligibility and IEP requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide direct OT services within the school setting to support:</p> </li><li> <p>Fine motor skills (e.g., handwriting, cutting, keyboarding)</p> </li><li> <p>Sensory processing and self-regulation</p> </li><li> <p>Visual-motor and perceptual skills</p> </li><li> <p>Functional task performance (e.g., classroom routines, transitions)</p> </li><li> <p>Deliver integrated/consultative services by collaborating with teachers and support staff to embed strategies and accommodations into classroom activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Use evidence-based methods suited to educational goals and students' developmental needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with educational regulations and professional standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Travel to and between schools to provide student services.</p> </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. </li><li>Current Connecticut license to practice occupational therapy. </li><li>Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. </li><li>Ability to maintain professional integrity and confidentiality. </li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds may be required. </li><li>Ability to stand for extended periods and perform fine motor tasks. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working in a school-based setting. </li><li>Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and educational service delivery models. </li><li>Commitment to supporting students' educational access and independence. </li></ul> <p>EMPLOYMENT TERMS:</p> <ul> <li>This is a salaried position at .6 FTE </li><li>The position is governed by an employment agreement specific to Regional School District No. 1.
