<p>Overview: Science teachers are responsible for creating safe, engaging, and respectful learning environments for all students. This individual demonstrates sound pedagogical knowledge and understanding of the different aspects of physics. The candidate has an understanding of the concepts, processes and techniques related to the scientific process, specifically those related to physics. The candidate employs a variety of age and developmentally appropriate instructional methods and tools designed to meet the needs of all learners. The ideal candidate collaborates well with the Curriculum Coordinator, Science Lead, and colleagues to improve curriculum and instructional effectiveness with a diverse group of students. The candidate can successfully establish strong relationships with students, faculty, parents, and community. There are also opportunities to teach sections of Robotics and Engineering Electives as part of this position. Strong candidates will demonstrate the ability to: Plan, organize, and deliver lessons and learning activities that align with the concepts, processes and techniques related to the scientific process, specifically those related to Physics and utilize the Universal Design for Learning guidelines Create a classroom learning environment that is engaging for students and in which mutual respect is shown Facilitate lab experiences for students that are engaging and directly relate to relevant concepts Implement authentic assessments to determine student growth and effectively communicate feedback and data to students, parents, administration Work with colleagues to plan instruction based upon explicit goals regarding what students should know and be able to do Incorporate a variety of instructional methods, technology, and media best suited for science content and skills Establish and maintain standards for student behavior that afford a healthy, safe, and enjoyable learning environment Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
