<p>Summary</p> <p>Reports to the Director. Manages the day-to-day operations of the spiritual care department in accordance with organizational and departmental guidelines. Leads chaplain services for patients, families and staff in times of stress, crisis, trauma, or illness. Contributes to the development/revision of policies, procedures, protocols and standards of care. Be on their team. </li></ul> <p>Uses innovative strategies to create an exceptional, cutting edge program by:</p> <ul> <li>Continually reviewing and incorporating best practices and resources into services. </li><li>Seeking out innovative practices and ideas that create new and effective supportive experiences for patients and families. </li><li>Planning and directing chaplaincy services growth in targeted areas. </li><li>Monitoring and reporting outcomes/results of programs and services; modifying programs and services to achieve optimal outcomes. </li><li>Benchmarking best practices and incorporating program improvement strategies as indicated. </li><li>Serving as a liaison between Hospital and community. </li><li>Communicating regularly with Director(s) regarding service goals, resource needs and outcomes. </li></ul> <p>Provides day-to-day direction and coordination of department by:</p> <ul> <li>Mentoring and directing other staff to provide hospitalized patients with appropriate support. </li><li>Scheduling staff, volunteers, interns and students as applicable. </li><li>Providing feedback to staff on individual performance and progress. </li><li>Interviews, hires, and develops performance plans and prepares/conducts performance reviews as well as coaches, disciplines and terminates associates as appropriate. </li><li>Provides ongoing associate trainings, department meetings and communication. </li><li>Prepares data and generates reports for department to leadership. </li><li>Manages the procurement of supplies for the departments. </li><li>Optimizing interdisciplinary cooperation to ensure continuity of patient care. </li></ul> <p>Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:</p> <ul> <li>Completing other job-related assignments and special projects as directed. </li></ul> <p>Leadership Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Drives Results - Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances. </li><li>Customer Focus - Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions. </li><li>Instills Trust - Gaining the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity. </li><li>Collaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives. </li><li>Communicates Effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences. </li></ul> <p>Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared. </li><li>Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes. </li><li>Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes. </li><li>Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year. </li><li>Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department. </li><li>Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self. </li><li>Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance. </li><li>Complies with established organization and department policies. </li><li>Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required. </li></ul> <p>Commitment to Beacon's six-point Operating System, referred to as The Beacon Way:</p> <ul> <li>Leverage innovation everywhere. </li><li>Cultivate human talent. </li><li>Embrace performance improvement. </li><li>Build greatness through accountability. </li><li>Use information to improve and advance. </li><li>Communicate clearly and continuously. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare or related field. A minimum of 2 years of related experience, preferably in a hospital setting, is required. Prior leadership or supervisory experience is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge & Skills</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates solid management skills needed to provide effective direction and manage the effective utilization of resources. </li><li>Demonstrates understanding and skills of ministry with diverse faith groups. </li><li>Demonstrates understanding of psychosocial skills of pediatric patients and families. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to create innovative and effective resources. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to work independently, plan and evaluate programs, set priorities, organize information, analyze problems, and make appropriate judgments to complete the essential functions of the position. </li><li>Demonstrates well developed interpersonal skills necessary to promote and maintain cooperative, courteous, sincere or therapeutic relationships with patients, family members, staff and volunteers. </li><li>Demonstrates clear, effective communication skills, including verbal, written and listening skills. </li><li>Demonstrates computer literacy and the ability to learn and use computer programs specific to the department needs. </li><li>Demonstrates excellent planning and organization skills necessary for project planning and to coordinate the activities of diverse groups of individuals. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Works in office and patient care environments. </li><li>Routine use of automated and mechanical equipment. </li><li>Requires flexibility and adaptability in work hours, including evenings and weekends. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e., lifting, bending, crouching, kneeling, and the ability to transport patients safely) to perform the essential functions of the position. </li></ul>
