<p>Hiring Department</p> <p>MizzouRec Services and Facilities is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides quality leisure experiences to all members of the campus community, primarily Mizzou students. Through our facilities and programs, we strive to bring our members and guests an environment that inspires and promotes a healthy, active lifestyle. MizzouRec enhances the student experience by creating a sense of "third place" and belonging with its vast services, facilities, and programming - in addition to its unique connection to campus history and traditions.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>The Aquatic Lead's primary responsibility is to help maintain safety, order, cleanliness, and organization within the Mizzou Aquatic Center. The individual must demonstrate initiative to solve problems and the desire to work as a team. They must also possess leadership skills and have good communication skills with members, co-workers, and supervisors.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Ensure member and guest safety by enforcing and communicating all Aquatic Center, MizzouRec, and University policies and procedures. </li><li>Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies by implementing the Emergency Action Plan for the Mizzou Aquatic Center. </li><li>Answer questions by providing accurate information regarding the Mizzou Aquatic Center, such as pool hours and available space. </li><li>Responsible for quality customer service through addressing and resolving member and guest requests and concerns. </li><li>Responsible for building security during assigned opening and closing shifts which include but are not limited to opening/closing facility on-time, checking water chemical levels, facility cleanliness, radios are operational, and ensuring pool vacuum is used and properly stored. </li><li>Responsible for assisting with the chemical operation of the Aquatic Center, notifying the Aquatic Coordinator when supplies are limited or water chemistry readings vary from the prescribed levels. </li><li>Inspect facility daily and report any unsafe conditions and equipment to Aquatic Coordinator or Facility Coordinator. </li><li>Document all accidents and incidents reports and communicate to the Aquatic Coordinator and Facility Coordinator on Duty. </li><li>Ensure acceptable staff coverage for all assigned shifts by helping lifeguards with the rotation as well as assigning lifeguards cleaning duties. </li><li>Responsible for completing Lifeguard Stand and Skill Audits and providing input for Lifeguard JPAs. </li><li>Maintain an accurate Communication Log during scheduled shifts to inform other Aquatic Leads and Aquatic Staff of updates. </li><li>Attend scheduled Aquatic Lead meetings and in-services. </li><li>Assist facility and programming staff as needed. </li><li>Adhere to all University, MizzouRec, Team Mizzou, and area specific guidelines. </li><li>As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities is expected in order to serve the customer and maintain the MizzouRec mission. </li></ul> <p>Anticipated Hiring Range</p> <p>$16.00 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis.</p> <p>Shift</p> <p>Numbers of hours per week: 10.</p> <p>2-hour shifts between the hours of 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.</p> <p>This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri. Enrollment in the summer session is not required if the student was enrolled in the Spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the Fall semester. Selection is contingent upon results of a review with the Office of Institutional Equity, Office of Student Accountability & Support, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, previous MU appointment history, and reference checks.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>University of Missouri student in good standing with the university. </li><li>Currently certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED or equivalent certification. </li><li>Preferred experience of 2 semesters or more as MizzouRec Lifeguard. </li><li>Meet Mizzou Aquatic fitness and skills standards. </li><li>Risk-management experience in an aquatic facility setting. </li><li>Ability to work two or more semesters within the department. </li></ul> <p>Application Materials</p> <p>Complete application, and upload the following: résumé, class schedule, cover letter, and 3 or more references which must include at least 1 MU supervisor (if applicable). The individual demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior, acts responsibly with the interests of the larger community in mind and is able to learn from their mistakes. </li><li>Career Management: Identify and articulate one's skills, strengths, knowledge and experiences relevant to the position desired and career goals, and identify areas necessary for professional growth.
