This is a key supervisory and leadership position with responsibility to oversee a total of 19 positions: 14 of the positions are filled and 5 are vacant. The two direct reports are the Carpenter Senior Lead and the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor positions. The crew consists of a variety of trades positions that includes Carpenters, Painters, General Maintenance and Repair Technicians, Electrician, a Lock Systems Specialist and a Building Systems Technician position.</p> <p>This position is responsible for supervising all construction, remodel, and space upgrades throughout the Capitol Complex. The Physical Plant Supervisor Senior oversees the planning, cost estimates, material orders, and completion of projects. The scope of various projects includes the following: carpentry, millwork, ceiling installation, concrete work, painting, and dry wall. As the supervisor, this position organizes skilled and unskilled craft workers in the remodel, new construction and emergency repair to maintain a functioning building complex.</p> <p>A significant duty consists of the full range of supervisory responsibilities to hire, train, mentor, complete performance evaluation reviews, approve leave requests and propose disciplinary action.</p> <p>This position is responsible for managing and supervising the construction, remodel, and space upgrades for the buildings. The Physical Plant Supervisor Senior oversees the planning, cost estimates, material orders, and completion of projects. The scope of various projects includes the following:</p> <ul> <li>Purchasing: Utilizes the TMA system to order parts, materials, and tools. </li><li>Recordkeeping/Reporting: Uses the TMA system to review, study, assign, and close work orders. </li><li>Training: trains employees in the installation and repair of systems and equipment by following industry standards for quality and safety. </li><li>Industrial safety: assists with the review of department safety procedures, review of safety equipment and training that may be required. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Five years of experience in building trades or mechanical building trades. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.</p> <p>Post Offer Requirement:</p> <p>Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas.
