For more information see the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act at the following: PHRC Website.</p> <p>Years Of Experience</p> <ul> <li>Teacher - Total Years of Experience </li></ul> <p>Position Details</p> <p>Position: 1 Special Education Teacher, Emotional Support</p> <p>School: Overlook Elementary School</p> <p>General Overview:</p> <p>Developing individualized education plans, implementing behavior management strategies, and fostering social and communication skills in students with autism.</p> <ul> <li>Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Develop, execute, and consistently monitor specific IEP goals and objectives. </li></ul> <p>Curriculum Adaptation: Modify general education materials and utilize evidence-based strategies to match students' learning styles.Behavior Management: Design and implement</p> <p>Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs), tracking behavioral data to reduce challenges and reinforce positive communication.</p> <p>Behavior Management: Proactively implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Use positive reinforcement, de-escalation techniques, and crisis management strategies to maintain a safe classroom environment.</p> <p>Life Skills Instruction: Teach essential daily living, communication, and interpersonal skills to promote student independence.</p> <p>Team Collaboration: Guide special education paraprofessionals and collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, school psychologists, and parents.</p> <p>Progress Monitoring: Collect ongoing data on student progress to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adjust instruction accordingly.</p> <p>Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, PA Certification in Special Education, De-escalation & Crisis Intervention: The ability to remain calm and utilize approved physical or verbal de-escalation methods to ensure safety during behavioral outbursts. Patience & Empathy: Strong capacity to build trust and connect with students who may be experiencing trauma, anxiety, or mood disorders.
