<p>Performs all duties outlined in the Outreach Phlebotomy job description. Collects blood specimens from patients via venipuncture and skin puncture according to physician orders and applicable policies and procedures to ensure complete and accurate specimens for all tests ordered. Obtains blood samples from patients quickly, efficiently, and with a minimum of discomfort. Documents appropriate information (ie: time, initials, unique identification) on specimen labels and requisitions. Accurately orders all tests in the laboratory information system</p> <ul> <li> <p>Performs all LIS functions relative to the scope of his/her responsibility to include patient identification and registration, order entry using correct mnemonics and report generation all while observing HIPPA requirements.</p> </li><li></li><li> <p>Keeps Phlebotomy supervisor informed of all draw station issues and needs.</p> </li><li></li><li> <p>Has ability to covers various draw stations based on SH need. Will have a fluid, flexible schedule. Ability to adapt easily to a changing schedule based on call outs, pto requests, etc. Can maintain a clean, fully stocked and organized work environment without disrupting the flow of Draw station assignment.</p> </li><li></li><li> <p>Able to address and resolve problems timely while maintaining a professional and courteous manner</p> </li><li></li><li> <p>Displays a positive attitude and is a positive agent for change.</p> </li><li></li><li> <p>Able to work both independently and able to collaborate with co-workers. Ability to work in fast paced environments with occasional high pressure or emergency situations</p> </li><li> <p>Must follow guidelines, SOP (standard operating procedure), regulatory guidelines, and safety guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Phlebotomist will maintain effective communication with other phlebotomists in all locations, outreach office, laboratory and professional staff. Must be Customer Service orientated - friendly, cheerful and helpful to patients and others.</p> </li><li></li><li> <p>Receives and screens incoming calls and directs calls to the appropriate person or department. May verbally provide specimen results to physicians and doctor's office support personnel. Ancillary duties may include filing, report distribution, supply distribution, record maintenance, stocking supplies, etc.</p> </li><li></li><li> <p>Some locations may require the phlebotomist to perform waived Point of Care testing (POC). Phlebotomists at these locations will receive appropriate training, be required to maintain competency and will perform mandatory proficiency testing.</p> </li></ul> <p>High School Diploma or equivalent.</p> <p>Familiarity with medical and/or laboratory terminology and testing strongly preferred.</p> <p>Phlebotomy training and experience preferred.</p> <p>Must have excellent communication skills, excellent customer service skills, good problem-solving ability and basic computer skills.</p> <p>2 years' experience</p>
