The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.</p> <p>Role Description</p> <p>SMBC is looking to hire a Financial Crime Compliance ("FCC") Program Governance Associate reporting to a VP of FCC Program Governance. The FCC Program Governance Associate will assist the FCC department in the administration, quality review, and enhancement of key FCC Reporting functions. This role will work with stakeholders within the Compliance Department and business partners throughout SMBC to ensure monthly reports are published timely and accurately.</p> <p>The candidate should have strong analytical and organizational skills. Experience with Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering ("BSA/AML"); and sanctions laws and regulations is a plus.</p> <p>Scope</p> <p>The scope of this function will encompass SMBC Group's Americas Division ("AD"), inclusive of SMBC Group's wholesale and retail banking operations; U.S. and LATAM representative offices; Grand Cayman Branch; Canada Branch; Brazilian banking subsidiary; U.S. broker dealer and registered swap deal; and certain non-bank leasing subsidiaries/affiliate.</p> <p>Role Objectives</p> <p>The job responsibilities are described herein:</p> <ul> <li>Assist team in monthly metrics reporting processes by preparing stakeholder materials for data collection. This responsibility requires strong Excel and PowerPoint skills. </li><li>Assist in the quality checks of metric submissions from stakeholders across the AD. This requires strong attention to detail and willingness to learn the subject matter. </li><li>Manage and coordinate communications with stakeholders across the AD, including acting as a challenge function to ensure accurate inputs from stakeholders. </li><li>Assist with the publishing of multiple metrics reports, including development, reviews, and managing approvals. This role will be required to summarize the results for executive level reporting. </li><li>Assist in the management of the annual metrics refresh. This involves coordination with multiple stakeholders and cross cross-functional collaboration. </li><li>Manage monthly program updates for SMBC's New York Branch for various FCC governance forums. </li><li>Maintain the team's documentation archives via SharePoint. </li><li>Stay abreast of the changing regulatory landscape. </li><li>This role may also be required to assist with other FCC program governance activities in order to build FCC subject matter knowledge, such as the creation and editing of FCC governance materials and meeting minutes. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications and Skills</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate strong project management or team leadership skills </li><li>Strong communication and presentation skills </li><li>Strong analytical skills to identify, document, present, and report issues </li><li>Experience with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Visio, SharePoint and other applications within the Office suite </li><li>Working knowledge of financial services industry (finance, banking, accounting, and business management, etc.) </li><li>Strong relationship-building skills </li><li>Experience with, and knowledge of, BSA/AML/OFAC laws, rules and regulations </li><li>Strong reasoning ability; understand complex situations, people and systems needs against backdrop of an ever-changing regulatory environment </li><li>Knowledge and understanding of Japanese culture and foreign banks in general is desirable </li><li>Maintains high level of confidentiality; unquestionable character, integrity, and professionalism </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 4 years of experience in project management with a minimum of 2 years in the financial services industry addressing regulatory issues and optimizing operations. </li><li>CAMS certification highly desired. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>SMBC's "5 Values" guide the overall culture of the work environment - Customer First; Proactive/Innovative; Speed; Quality; and Team SMBC.
