<p>The Functional Fitness Personal Trainer is responsible for administering safe and effective exercise program design and prescription for patrons looking to improve their level of functional fitness. Functional Fitness Trainers utilize the Life Enhancement Model and abide by its restorative emphasis centered on reducing stress and making clients feel better immediately. Our progressive approach works synergistically with standard personal training practices which center around cardiovascular and strength training prescription. This position will have the opportunity to train clients at any of our fitness centers including the Wildcat Center for Health Education & Wellness, Davis Campus fitness facility, and the residence hall fitness centers. This position reports to the Campus Recreation Fitness Coordinator.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Extensive knowledge of functional exercises, anatomy, and restorative movement patterns.</p> <p>Possess excellent interpersonal communication and relational service skills.</p> <p>Nationally recognized personal training certification (i.e. ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM).</p> <p>American Red Cross CPR/AED and Standard First Aid certifications are required prior to working a shift.</p> <p>Ability to conduct functional movement screening assessment in under ten minutes.</p> <p>Design individualized programs to meet the needs of clients and build a strong foundation for lasting success.</p> <p>Ensure all paperwork and consent forms are completed prior to beginning sessions with client.</p> <p>Responsible for scheduling all appointments with clients and accurately tracking training package usage.</p> <p>Arrive on time for all appointments.</p> <p>Develop a positive rapport with clients to reflect the mission and philosophy of the Life Enhancement Model.</p> <p>Complete incident & accident reports completely and accurately and submit to the Fitness Coordinator.</p> <p>Document and Report facility or equipment issues encountered while personal training.</p> <p>Understand and abide by all policies and procedures outlined in Functional Fitness Personal Trainer Handbook.</p> <p>Available for optional hours including on-campus tabling, special events, tours, orientations etc.</p> <p>Attend monthly meetings, orientations, all-staff training, and staff development workshops.</p> <p>Maintain communication by checking & responding to e-mails, texts, phone calls, and mailbox contents.</p> <p>Complete modules or trainings using online CANVAS system.</p> <p>Positively enforce all policies to ensure safety of participants.</p> <p>Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications (failure to do so can result in loss of employment).</p> <p>Serve as an ambassador for the Campus Recreation Departmental events and offerings.</p> <p>Perform other duties as specified by the Fitness Coordinator.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Prior experience in personal training, exercise prescription, and fitness assessment preferred.</p> <p>Completion of Life Enhancement Internship preferred.</p> <p>Successful performance as a Functional Fitness Consultant preferred (at least one semester).</p> <p>Declared major of Human Performance and Health Promotion preferred.</p> <p>Background Check? Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
