<p>Title: Admin - Principal (CAMS) (SY25-26)</p> <p>About Chelsea Public Schools:</p> <p>The Chelsea Public Schools (CPS) is a gateway school system that welcomes and educates all students and families. In CPS, we believe all children are capable of achieving their personal best by ensuring a safe and supportive environment for school and classroom environments. The school system educates over 6,200 students in 11 schools, including a pre-K-1st grade school, 4 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, a virtual school, and 2 high schools. CPS is a culturally responsive school district. We believe that students learn best when they are engaged in meaningful relationships that fosters and promotes high expectations and risk taking. More information about CPS can be found on our website at www.chelseaschools.com/cps.</p> <p>About the Position:</p> <p>The Principal is responsible for setting and executing the vision of the school in collaboration with Central Office partners. The Principal oversees, leads, and manages all school activities including instruction, student support, evaluation, operations, partnerships, and internal as well as external communication. The Principal must be both an instructional and social-emotional leader for faculty and students who models a growth mindset. The Principal also champions creating a welcoming, culturally responsive school environment for students and families.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <p>The Principal retains ultimate oversight, progress monitoring, supervision and evaluation of all administrators, educator teams, and other staff responsible for implementing the following:</p> <ul> <li>Fostering the development of a collaborative culture and shared leadership </li><li>Strategic planning and ongoing progress monitoring aligned to accelerated improvement </li><li>Setting the vision and tone for instruction and social emotional learning to support the development of the whole child </li><li>Building and refining systems and structures to realize the school vision </li><li>Aligning academic curriculum to the curriculum learning standards as well as the integration of culturally responsive teaching practices and CASEL competencies. </li><li>Coaching, supervising, evaluating school leaders, teacher leaders, and teachers using state performance standards and rubrics </li><li>Recruit, interview, hire and retain high quality educators. </li><li>Conducting observations in classrooms with specific targeted feedback </li><li>Develop and monitor annual budget proposals for equipment, materials, curriculum and staffing that supports the school's improvement plan. </li><li>Coordinate and oversee administration of local, state and federal testing </li><li>Analyzing data, including ACCESS and MCAS scores as well as district benchmarks for decision making purposes </li><li>Collaborate with other administrators to create and implement effective professional development to promote teacher growth that supports individual school needs and is linked to the District's Instructional Strategy. </li><li>Leading creation and operationalizing the master schedule </li><li>Leading and/or coordinating professional learning teams at the leadership and teacher level as well as actively participating in administrator PLCs. </li><li>Supporting family and community engagement activities </li><li>Setting and overseeing implementation of school policies </li><li>Managing or supervising the discipline of students including supporting the transition to the use of more restorative practices. </li><li>Responsible for Student Relations, Personnel Management, building Administration, Facility Management, and Community Relations. </li><li>Other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of School </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Required:</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree and MA DESE license as a principal required </li><li>Minimum 6 - 8 years of experience, with at least 5 years of effective teaching </li><li>Experience with a culturally diversified population </li><li>Demonstrated leadership ability </li><li>Experience in curriculum development and assessment with Understanding by Design, Performance Assessments and Instruction Round Model </li><li>Demonstrated competence and experience in supervision and evaluation </li><li>Proven ability to work well with parents and community organizations </li><li>Ability to prepare and administer annual building budget </li><li>Knowledge of State and Federal Education Laws </li><li>Ability to follow and implement school system policies and procedures </li><li>Citizenship, residency or work visa required </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual in Spanish </li><li>Experience as a Principal, Assistant Principal, or related role </li></ul> <p>Terms: Principals are part of the non-bargaining unit.
