Work at Michigan Medicine and become a victor for the greater good.</p> <p>What perks and benefits can you look forward to?</p> <ul> <li>Excellent medical, dental and vision coverage </li><li>2:1 Match on retirement savings </li><li>Generous PTO program </li><li>State of the Art technology </li><li>Career advancement as intermediate and senior level technicians </li><li>Paid observed holidays </li><li>Tremendous team support </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities*</p> <p>Perform the duties of an ophthalmic technician, Perform the duties of an ophthalmic technician, including, but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Provide exceptional patient care </li><li>Provide assistance to ophthalmologists </li><li>Perform testing related to diagnostic evaluation of the visual system </li><li>Assist in in-office procedures and treatments </li><li>Actively monitor clinic workflow </li><li>Assist in research studies </li><li>Assist in training and coordinating the work of other ophthalmic team members </li><li>Assist in onboarding new employees </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications*</p> <p>Associate level:</p> <ul> <li>Graduation from high school is necessary; two years of college with courses in health science area is desirable </li><li>Successful completion of Michigan Medicine's 12-week training program is required, or some experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is required </li><li>Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology is required within one year of employment </li><li>Respectful and compassionate attitude </li><li>Able to maintain confidentiality and follow all guidelines for documentation. </li><li>Collaborative and collegial, demonstrates integrity </li><li>Excellent communication skills </li><li>Excellent attendance record </li><li>Electronic Medical Record experience </li><li>Demonstrate integrity and commitment to meeting and exceeding the needs of our patients and referring physicians </li><li>Demonstrate understand and compliance with University policies and KEC guiding principles that promote Caring, Teamwork, Integrity, and Innovation </li></ul> <p>Intermediate level:</p> <ul> <li>Graduation from high school is necessary; two years of college with courses in the health science area is desirable </li><li>Reasonable experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is required </li><li>Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology is required </li><li>Respectful and compassionate attitude </li><li>Able to maintain confidentiality and follow all guidelines for documentation. </li><li>Collaborative and collegial, demonstrates integrity </li><li>Excellent communication skills </li><li>Excellent attendance record </li><li>Electronic Medical Record experience </li><li>Demonstrate understand and compliance with University policies and KEC guiding principles that promote Caring, Teamwork, Integrity, and Innovation </li><li>Demonstrate integrity and commitment to meeting and exceeding the needs of our patients and referring physicians </li></ul> <p>Senior level:</p> <ul> <li>Graduation from high school is necessary; two years of college with courses in the health science area is desirable </li><li>Considerable experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is required </li><li>Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician (COT) through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology is required </li><li>Respectful and compassionate attitude </li><li>Able to maintain confidentiality and follow all guidelines for documentation. </li><li>Collaborative and collegial, demonstrates integrity </li><li>Excellent communication skills </li><li>Excellent attendance record </li><li>Electronic Medical Record experience </li><li>Demonstrate understand and compliance with University policies and KEC guiding principles that promote Caring, Teamwork, Integrity, and Innovation </li><li>Demonstrate integrity and commitment to meeting and exceeding the needs of our patients and referring physicians </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications*</p> <p>Intermediate level:</p> <ul> <li>Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician Ophthalmic Technician (COT) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology is desired </li></ul> <p>Senior level:</p> <ul> <li>Certification as an Ophthalmic Medical Technician (COMT) through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology is desired </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule</p> <p>This is full-time, working Monday through Friday. The hours depend on the clinic operation hours.</p> <p>Modes of Work</p> <p>Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
