<p>Job Description and Duties</p> <ul> <li>Position may become permanent.* </li></ul> <p>The California Energy Commission (CEC) seeks a Public Information Officer (Information Officer I) in the Media and Public Communications Office (MPCO). The MPCO includes the Media Relations and Special Events Branch and the Brand Strategy Branch. MPCO collaborates to create clear, concise communications campaigns that tell the CEC story to internal and external stakeholders. Our work increases understanding and awareness, inspires action and empowers decision-making to advance the state's climate and clean energy goals.</p> <p>Under the direction of the Media Relations and Special Events Branch Manager, the Public Information Officer supports the CEC's overall communications strategy by handling social media and coordinating public outreach and stakeholder engagement campaigns. The office is looking for an individual with strong writing and editing skills, experience in handling media relations, experience in organizing outreach and stakeholder engagement initiatives, and be able to flourish in a collaborative team.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications (MQs): The MQs for this classification can be found at Information Officer I (Specialist) - CalHR. Beginning July 1, 2025, employees may be required to work in-person four days per week under the Energy Commission's telework policy currently under development as required by Executive Order N-22-25 and current CalHR guidance. CEC will review requests for exemptions on a case-by-case basis, with consideration to operational needs and the benefits of in-person interaction. Teleworking is only available for employees who reside in California. You must be located in California and provide your in-state address prior to your start date. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance.
