Join us now to do purposeful work with our diverse and respectful team.</p> <p>Job Title: Health Information Technician I</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Responsible for the assembling of all medical records.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li>Assembles medical records of all discharged patients for LTC, SNF and Hospital, per guidelines established by the facility. </li><li>Maintains disassembled records in a specific area by discharge date order. </li><li>Picks up all discharged medical records from all units and follows up on any charts not available during regular pickup as needed, per hospital guidelines. </li><li>Covers and assists with release of information. </li><li>Completes telephone requests from other departments and follow-up on medical records issues as needed. </li><li>Files all records in terminal digit order and keeps the filing area organized. </li><li>Assists with processing and filing transcription reports and chart filings as assigned. </li><li>Performs other support duties for the HIM Department as needed. </li><li>Participates in department meetings and in-services as necessary. </li><li>Assists in the analysis of medical records as needed, following established guidelines. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent, associate degree in HIT preferred </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>6 months experience working in healthcare setting </li></ul> <p>Licenses/Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>N/A </li></ul> <p>Abilities Required</p> <ul> <li>Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills </li><li>Knowledge of medical terminology </li></ul> <p>Functional Demands</p> <p>Environment Work Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation </li></ul> <p>Infectious Material Exposure:</p> <ul> <li>N/A </li></ul> <p>Organizational Expectations</p> <ul> <li>Ensures that resident's/patient's rights are adhered to </li><li>Demonstrates professionalism and accountability </li><li>Demonstrates a caring attitude consistent with Miami Jewish EmpathicareSM toward MJH residents, patients, family members, employees, and other facility guests </li><li>Demonstrates excellent communication skills </li><li>Ensures confidentiality and security of patients' medical information </li><li>Identifies and utilizes appropriate channels of communication </li><li>Able to speak, read and write English </li><li>Able to think and act calmly to meet unusual occurrences of the job </li><li>Adheres to the organization's Mission, Vision and Values </li><li>Participates in departmental activities, meetings and in-services and follows established guidelines </li><li>Maintains a safe working environment </li></ul> <p>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
