<p>Job Description and Duties</p> <p>ASSOCIATE STATE ARCHAELOGIST / NORTHERN BUTTES DISTRICT / ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE / OROVILLE, CA</p> <p>The reporting location for this position is the District Administrative Office located at 400 Glen Drive, Oroville CA. This position will work under the general direction of District Resources Manager.</p> <p>This position performs work relating to protection, documentation and preservation of the District's cultural resources and participates in the cultural resource protection function of the State Park system. The position routinely travels throughout the district in order to accomplish assigned duties.</p> <p>The incumbent will conduct cultural and archaeological work, and act as the district Tribal Liaison for the fourteen park units, one State Vehicle Recreation Area (SVRA), and Administrative Office within the District and will conduct cultural and archaeological work relevant for fourteen park units for State Vehicle Recreation Area (SVRA), and Administrative Office within the District. These park units span across nine counties and include Lake Oroville, Bidwell-Sacramento River, Bidwell Mansion, Woodson Bridge, Shasta State Historical Park, Burney Falls, Castle Crags, Clear Lake, Ahjumawi Lava Springs, William B. Ide Adobe, Weaverville Joss House, Anderson Marsh, Colusa Sacramento River, Sutter Buttes, and Clay Pit SVRA. The incumbent will be required to work on weekends, some holidays and occasionally for irregular hours for special events or to attend training.</p> <p>Training and Development Assignments may be considered.</p> <p>This position is designated as not telework eligible.</p> <p>This position requires a valid Class C driver's license. Resource protection, excavation and surveying work is common with moderate exposure to a full range of environmental conditions, varying terrain, unusual elements and inclement weather. Incumbent's duties will include use of a personal computer, various software applications, various databases, and other business equipment as necessary. Incumbent may sit in a normal seated position or operate a keyboard for extended periods of time on an intermittent basis.</p> <p>Typical work activities involve frequent and prolonged periods of standing and walking. The position requires occasional physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of objects up to 25 pounds. May entail muscular strain, including walking, standing, stooping, sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending, twisting, lifting, carrying and reaching on uneven and slippery surfaces. The incumbent must have the ability to climb stairs / inclines, walk or traverse even and uneven terrain for extended or prolonged periods of time, and walk on variable surfaces.
