<p>Description:We are seeking a Test Engineer to plan, prepare, and execute mechanical, functional, and environmental testing of development and flight aerospace mechanisms and other mechanical products at the Materials Technology & Mechanisms Test Lab at Lockheed Martin Space.</p> <p>In this position, you will coordinate and interface directly with program engineering, production colleagues, technicians, quality, planners, and others to support various stages of the product life cycle for aerospace mechanisms and other mechanical components and subsystems. A successful candidate is a self-starter with strong knowledge in mechanical engineering as it applies to unique test set-ups that involve load / deflection, functional / performance, thermal, and / or thermal-vacuum environments. A successful candidate has demonstrated the ability to learn and apply solutions to difficult engineering and operational challenges, via action both independently and in a team environment. This is a hands-on position operating in a laboratory environment developing and executing test solutions that support development, qualification, acceptance, or investigation of products used in human / robotic space exploration, navigation, communications, and national security.</p> <p>Basic Qualifications:</p> <p>Strong knowledge of three or more of the following: degrees of freedom, stress analysis, heat and mass transfer, statics, dynamics, friction, automation, parts fabrication, system set-up.</p> <p>Strong technical writing, communication, project and time management skills</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to design (CREO preferred) and analyze standard and creative electro-mechanical solutions</p> <p>Demonstrating the ability to remain organized in a fast-paced environment, supporting multiple simultaneous objectives</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to become a certified test conductor, acting as the person in charge who is accountable to multi-disciplinary teams, successfully applying test knowledge and execution discipline, and validating processes</p> <p>Desired Skills:</p> <p>Prior related practicable field, shop, or factory experience</p> <p>Relevant professional experience or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline</p> <p>Working knowledge of CREO, LabVIEW, environmental testing (load / deflection, thermal and thermal vacuum), MATLAB, etc</p> <p>Familiarity and comfort operating and troubleshooting set-ups and equipment such as servo hydraulic / electro-mechanical load frames, instrumentation / data acquisition.</p> <p>Knowledge in test script development, data processing techniques, and formal writing of procedural instructions and data reports</p> <p>Demonstrated experience and commitment to knowledge continuity and continuous process improvement</p> <p>Strong ability to interpret and develop detailed test requirements from varying degrees of maturity to properly specify detailed test configurations and support build and checkouts of proper functional and performance test environments</p> <p>Strong ability to carefully identify, explain, and resolve anomalous conditions as well as nominal deliverable data</p> <p>Clearance Level: None</p> <p>Other Important Information You Should Know</p> <p>Expression of Interest: By applying to this job, you are expressing interest in this position and could be considered for other career opportunities where similar skills and requirements have been identified as a match. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.</p> <p>Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off</p> <p>Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100 - $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.</p> <p>Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.</p> <p>(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
