<p>Position Summary: WSB is seeking a Transmission Engineering Manager to lead and grow our transmission engineering team. This role will combine hands-on technical leadership with strategic mentoring, client engagement, and execution of high-voltage transmission projects (34.5kV to 500kV). The successful candidate will possess a deep technical background in transmission line engineering, a passion for mentorship, and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure for renewable and utility clients.</p> <p>Why WSB?</p> <p>WSB is a forward-thinking design and consulting firm dedicated to building the future. With national reach and local expertise, we're redefining what infrastructure can be.</p> <p>What you will do:</p> <ul> <li>Lead and supervise a team of engineers and designers in the execution of overhead and underground transmission line projects. </li><li>Mentor and train engineering staff in technical skills, design principles, software tools, and project delivery. </li><li>Foster a culture of quality, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. </li><li>Oversee all aspects of transmission line design, including line routing, structure spotting, clearance analysis, hardware and conductor selection, structural analysis, and foundation design. </li><li>Lead the preparation of engineering deliverables including plan and profiles, structure framing drawings, bills of materials, and construction specifications. </li><li>Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (NEC, NESC, ASCE, IEEE) and client-specific requirements. </li><li>Serve as the technical lead and primary point of contact for key clients. </li><li>Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with high-quality standards. </li><li>Support proposals, scope development, and participate in interviews and business development opportunities. </li><li>Provide quality control oversight of engineering deliverables and internal reviews. </li><li>Implement and refine internal design standards and templates. </li><li>Support the growth and development of the team, identifying skill gaps and training opportunities. </li></ul> <p>What you will bring:</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. </li><li>Active PE license (or ability to obtain in multiple states). </li><li>10+ years of experience in high-voltage transmission line engineering. </li><li>3+ years of experience managing or mentoring technical staff. </li><li>Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and other industry software (LPILE, MFAD, AutoCAD, SAG10). </li><li>Strong communication and organizational skills with a client-focused mindset. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Engineering or Management. </li><li>Structural Engineer (SE) license. </li><li>Experience working directly with utilities and renewable developers. </li><li>Expertise in geotechnical foundation design, ArcGIS, and project cost estimating. </li></ul> <p>Who We Are: WSB is a design and consulting firm specializing in Transportation, Community Planning, Environmental, Energy, Municipal, and Construction services.
