<p>The Syracuse University Newhouse NYC is seeking an adjunct instructor for JNL 500.50 ST: Red Carpet Reporting. The adjunct instructor will teach this 1-credit course on Wednesdays 6:00pm-9:10pm during the Summer 2025 semester for 5 weeks which begins on July 2 and ends on July 30. This position is based in NYC (classes cannot meet virtually).</p> <p>Course Description: This class will teach the essential skills for writing effective, engaging entertainment journalism, including interviewing tips and techniques, gathering sources, verifying facts, attributing quotes, crafting story ideas, pitching and marketing content on social media platforms.</p> <p>This position is located at the Fisher Center, Syracuse University's consolidated academic campus at 136 Madison Avenue, NY, NY The expected salary range for this position is $1,700 per credit hour.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree preferred. </li><li>Teaching experience is preferred although not required. </li></ul> <p>Job Specific Qualifications</p> <p>The ideal candidate will have a significant amount of professional experience in the fashion and beauty industry. This candidate will also have enough influence and relationships to provide students with opportunities to engage with other fashion and beauty professionals either in a classroom setting or in the workplace. The ideal candidate should have experience covering red carpets as well as working for or with fashion and beauty brands.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:</p> <ul> <li>Developing a syllabus. </li><li>Ordering in advance books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes. </li><li>Preparing for classes. </li><li>Holding office hours each week to meet with students in the class and others. </li><li>Grading in a timely manner student assignments and examinations for the course; and turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to instruct the class on the days and times it is designated to meet. </li><li>Ability to hold office hours on campus. </li><li>Ability to grade all assignments and examinations. </li></ul> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may include computer, projector, document camera, etc.</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a curriculum vitae, cover letter, and list of 3 references.</p>
