The safety of passengers is the prime responsibility of bus drivers. Shuttle bus drivers are expected to provide a superior, safe service. Individual must have good communication skills both oral and written to interact with fellow drivers, maintenance, the operations team as well as the public they serve. Commitment, patience, maturity, and initiative are required qualities. This is a part-time, temporary, as-needed position with the University.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Drive safely, responsibly and be prepared for all road conditions </li><li>Respect equipment, students, coaches, fellow employees and relate to all levels of staff and management </li><li>Follow all traffic laws and posted speed limits </li><li>Inspect vehicle to ensure that it is functioning correctly (emphasis on ensuring adequate fluid levels) </li><li>Complete all applicable paper work required </li><li>Maintain radio contact and use proper radio protocol </li><li>Fuel bus as required and record information as per procedure </li><li>No passengers on while fueling </li><li>Maintain a clean bus </li><li>Must attend required safety meetings and other training sessions </li><li>Report unsafe conditions </li><li>Report an injury </li><li>Use the safe work procedures </li><li>Patience is necessary when dealing with heavy traffic </li><li>Cooperate with the employer through involvement in all aspects of the health and safety management system </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent </li><li>Candidates must meet state and federal regulations </li><li>Commercial driver's license, or CDL </li><li>Drivers must also obtain a passenger endorsement allowing you to transport people </li><li>Minimum six months experience as a licensed commercial driver and good driving skills and record </li><li>Interpersonal skills </li></ul> <p>Review of resumes will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.</p> <p>Interested applicants should submit a current resume to:</p> <p>University of Charleston</p> <p>Attention: Todd Diuguid</p> <p>2300 MacCorkle Ave. SE</p> <p>Charleston, WV 25304</p> <p>todddiuguid@ucwv.edu</p> <p>The University of Charleston is an Equal Opportunity Employer.</p>
