<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Assistant Principal</p> <p>Position Title: Assistant Principal, WHS</p> <p>Location: Watertown High School</p> <p>Position Reports To: Principal of Watertown High School</p> <p>Job ID: #2315</p> <p>Internal Close Date: June 26, 2025</p> <p>External Close Date: July 11, 2025</p> <p>Anticipated Start Date: Upon Completion of Onboarding; Contractual year begins July 1, 2025</p> <p>Required Certifications & Qualifications</p> <p>Current State of Connecticut Teaching Certificate #092</p> <p>General Scope of Function</p> <p>Responsible for assisting the principal in the administration and supervision of the school in accordance with policies the Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools may prescribe.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Education Administration or related field </li><li>Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience </li><li>Previous administrative experience preferred </li><li>Demonstrated success as an instructional leader </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills, Knowledge Performance Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist the principal in providing educational leadership to the school community in which he/she works </li><li>Assist the principal to secure improvement of instruction </li><li>Assist the principal in staff development and aid in supervision and evaluation of teachers in accordance with school and Board of Education Policy </li><li>Within the philosophy and goals of the school, work with staff to promote positive student behavior </li><li>Maintain records on students referred to the office for disciplinary reasons </li><li>Supervise curricular and extracurricular activities-sharing the supervision with the principal </li><li>Assist the principal in development of the school budget </li><li>Coordinate Alternative Education Program as directed by the principal </li><li>Coordinate Special Education Program in the building including chairing Planning and Placement Team meetings and maintaining good communication with the Supervisor of Special Education </li><li>Coordinate substitute teachers' concerns with department chairperson/coordinators </li><li>Assume responsibility for equipment, facilities, and other functions within the jurisdiction of the school as directed by the principal </li><li>Support the Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, Principal, and other administrative personnel in his/her contacts with parents and citizens </li><li>Coordinate standardized testing logistics </li><li>Prepare all required reports and statistics </li><li>Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment</p> <p>Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience</p> <p>Work Schedule</p> <p>The work year for association members is 215 days per contract year.</p> <p>All application materials must be submitted online, through Applitrack; should you have any difficulty in submitting your online application please contact (860)945-4813.</p> <ul> <li>District reserves the right to close the posting if a suitable candidate is found prior to the external closing date. </li></ul>
