<p>Summary: The Lead Camp Counselor will oversee the day-to-day operations of the camp,</p> <p>ensuring a safe, organized, and engaging experience for all campers. This position requires</p> <p>strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a passion for recreation and youth</p> <p>development. The Lead Counselor will help with camp rosters, camper check-ins, conflict</p> <p>resolution, inventory management, and will collaborate with the camp team to support the</p> <p>smooth operation of camp activities. Additionally, the Lead Counselor will assist in managing</p> <p>camp cancellations and rescheduling, ensuring that all aspects of camp run efficiently and in</p> <p>alignment with the mission to enrich lives through recreation and culture.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>Camp Rosters & Camper Check-In:</p> <ul> <li>Manage and maintain accurate camp rosters, ensuring all camper information is up to </li></ul> <p>date.</p> <ul> <li>Oversee camper check-in and check-out processes, ensuring smooth transitions for both </li></ul> <p>campers and parents.</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate with camp administration to ensure all necessary documentation (waivers, </li></ul> <p>medical forms, etc.) are collected and processed.</p> <p>Camp Preparation:</p> <ul> <li>Assist in preparing camp schedules, activities, and materials prior to the start of each </li></ul> <p>session.</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that all camp locations are organized, safe, and well-equipped with the necessary </li></ul> <p>supplies.</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with fellow counselors to create a fun, inclusive, and educational experience </li></ul> <p>that reflects the camp's mission.</p> <p>Conflict Resolution:</p> <ul> <li>Act as a primary point of contact for addressing camper and parent concerns, working to </li></ul> <p>resolve any conflicts that may arise in a positive and constructive manner.</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that all campers feel safe, respected, and heard during their camp experience. </li><li>Foster an environment of open communication with campers, parents, and camp staff. </li></ul> <p>Inventory & Supplies Management:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct regular inventory checks of camp supplies, including arts and crafts materials, </li></ul> <p>sports equipment, and other necessary resources.</p> <ul> <li>Assist in ordering and replenishing supplies as needed, ensuring that the camp is always </li></ul> <p>well-stocked and prepared for activities.</p> <p>Camp Cancellations & Rescheduling:</p> <ul> <li>Assist in handling camp cancellations and rescheduling requests from parents or </li></ul> <p>guardians.</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that all communication related to cancellations or changes is handled in a timely </li></ul> <p>and professional manner.</p> <ul> <li>Work with camp administration to ensure that these changes are reflected accurately in </li></ul> <p>camp rosters and scheduling.</p> <p>Leadership & Staff Support:</p> <ul> <li>Model the camp's values and mission through leadership, communication, and behavior. </li><li>Lead by example in providing excellent customer service to campers and parents, </li></ul> <p>ensuring a high-quality experience.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Previous experience working as a camp counselor, ideally in a leadership role (1-2 years </li></ul> <p>preferred).</p> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of recreation, leisure activities, and cultural programming. </li><li>Ability to handle conflict in a calm and professional manner. </li><li>Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. </li><li>Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed. </li><li>First Aid/CPR certification. </li><li>Passion for youth development, recreation, and enriching the lives of others. </li><li>A positive attitude and the ability to foster a fun and inclusive camp environment. </li></ul> <p>Education and/or Experience High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and</p> <p>one (1) year of college-level work, or completion of a clerical support educational program,</p> <p>Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence,</p> <p>and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information</p> <p>in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the</p> <p>organization. English/Spanish bilingual oral communication skill preferred.</p> <p>Reasoning Ability The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but</p> <p>uninvolved written or oral instructions.
