<p>Founded in 1891, North Park University is a Christian university affiliated with the Evangelical Covenant Church of over 3,200 students from around the country and the world.</p> <p>North Park University is located in the Albany Park neighborhood of Chicago, one of the most ethnically diverse zip codes in the United States. It is nine miles from downtown Chicago. The North Park campus has often been referred to as an oasis in the heart of the city - a place where students from urban, rural, and suburban backgrounds alike can call home. And all of this within the major metropolitan backdrop of Chicago: one of the world's largest and most diversified economies, renowned for its museums and music, and voted best large city in the U.S. for four years in a row by Condé Nast Traveler.</p> <p>Mission</p> <p>The mission of North Park University is to prepare students for lives of significance and service through education in the liberal arts, professional studies, and theology.</p> <p>Vision</p> <p>Building on our core institutional identity-Christian, city-centered, intercultural-our vision is to create a university of uncommon character and enduring excellence, where faith, learning, and service meet.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>The adjunct faculty member is responsible for maintaining academic standards and professional expertise in a particular discipline. The individual is expected to act in a professional manner in all activities related to the academic role and in interactions with colleagues, students, and peers. A commitment to North Park's mission of Christian higher education is required.</p> <p>The School of Business and Nonprofit Management has ongoing openings in the following areas:</p> <ul> <li>Business Law </li><li>Accounting (All areas, including Financial Accounting, Accounting Research and Analysis, Intermediate Accounting) </li><li>Finance (All areas, International Finance, Foundations of Finance, Investments and Portfolio Management) </li></ul> <p>As a part-time instructor, adjunct faculty are contracted on a term-by-term basis. There is no guarantee of continuous employment. The adjunct instructor will teach to a diverse student population. Course timing is at the discretion of the academic department offering the course. Adjunct faculty will be made aware of the timing of the course prior to the offering of an official contract for the course. In some instances, flexibility in course timing may be available. The list of duties below represents minimum expectations of all faculty:</p> <ul> <li>Attends an adjunct faculty orientation when offered at North Park University. </li><li>Adheres to University Rules and Procedures, which reflect Federal, state, and local laws that govern the educational process. </li><li>Participates in campus-wide activities, meetings, and events when possible and/or at the request of the department chair/division director/dean. </li><li>Is readily available to the department chair/division director/dean. </li><li>Prepares syllabi, course materials, and supplemental materials as needed. </li><li>Maintains accurate records of student attendance, assignments, and course grades. </li><li>Completes required midterm and final grades in accordance with university policy and deadlines. </li><li>Teaches all scheduled classes on the assigned day of the week and time unless otherwise specified by the department chair/division director/dean. </li><li>Demonstrates a commitment to encourage student growth and learning. Integrates techniques that support a diversity of perspectives in the classroom and encourages equity and inclusion. </li><li>Uses appropriate technology to enhance instruction and the student learning experience. Ready to utilize Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft applications to support instruction. Ready to utilize a learning management system, such as Canvas, to encourage student engagement. </li><li>Documents available office hours in the course syllabus. </li><li>Promotes and maintains a positive and safe educational environment, free from harassment and discrimination (disability, harassment). </li><li>Complies with all aspects of the contractual agreement. </li></ul> <p>Compensation is based on semester hours (credit hours). The starting compensation for adjunct instructors teaching at the undergraduate level is $3,400 for a four semester hour course; $4,650 for 4SH graduate level courses.</p>
