<p>Position Information</p> <p>Position Number 006455 Position Title Research Technologist II - 006455 Division College of Medicine Department 720400 - Microbiology Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and one year of experience in a public health, medical, clinical or research laboratory.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Experience working with arthropods and/or animal models with special emphasis on entomology is preferred.</p> <p>Job Description Summary</p> <p>The University of South Alabama's department of Microbiology and Immunology is seeking to hire a Research Technologist II. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>These are the job duties required of the position.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Engages in multiple aspects of laboratory projects examining arthropod-pathogen-host interactions. </li><li>Uses in vitro and in vivo models to elucidate the determinants of vector-borne transmission and pathogens. </li><li>Maintains working knowledge of techniques and practices used in the laboratory and projects to include nucleic acid purification, PCR, tissue culture, generation of bacterial stocks, and bacteria quantification. </li><li>Maintains mammalian and arthropod cell lines, performs basic virology techniques and records, interprets and reports data. </li><li>Animal use/care and general laboratory equipment maintenance; </li><li>Maintains inventory records of laboratory equipment and supplies and initiates purchase orders to replenish supplies. </li><li>Regular and prompt attendance. </li><li>Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required. </li><li>Related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Posting Information</p> <p>Number of Vacancies 1 Position End Date (if temporary) Job Open Date 05/05/2024 Job Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants Working Days Monday - Friday Working Hours 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Job Location Main Campus Full-time or Part-Time Full Time Regular or Temporary Regular</p>
