This position will assist with ensuring that the highway project is built in accordance with the plans and specifications, thus providing a safe highway system.</p> <p>Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Tests materials incorporated into assigned highway construction projects by following the stated procedures in the CDOT Field Materials Manual and then documenting the test results on the appropriate summary sheets. </li><li>Ensures acceptability of materials used in the construction of highways by obtaining and testing a representative sample of material, calibrating and operating test equipment and analyzing test results for compliance with job specifications. </li><li>Informs project engineers of inconsistency between materials and specifications, documentation errors and status of work. </li><li>Confirms accuracy of test results by researching standard testing procedures. </li><li>Responsible for the sampling and analytical laboratory testing for materials incorporated into multiple construction projects. </li><li>Analyzes materials test procedures, test results and documentation for compliance with applicable standards and specifications. </li><li>Schedules and performs the materials sampling and testing at laboratory facilities located in the field to ensure that materials placed on construction projects are in conformance with contract specifications and industry standards. </li><li>Certifies all final materials documentation meets specifications for assigned projects by checking all summary sheets, certifications of compliance and mix designs against quantities that were paid. </li><li>Assists project engineers and consultant materials testers to verify proper form documentation on each project. </li><li>Consults with project engineers to ensure materials testing and documentation are being completed per project specifications. </li><li>Compiles records of all materials used in the construction of highways by obtaining documents from the contractor, filling in necessary CDOT forms. </li><li>Monitors the quality and quantity of testing, sampling and documentation of work that was performed by reviewing worksheets, summary sheets, and certifications of compliance for the materials used. </li><li>Monitors consultants to ensure professional capability, per CDOT standards. </li><li>Attends weekly project scheduling meetings. </li><li>Initiates, develop and maintain effective professional working relationships with work units within CDOT, as well as federal governmental agencies, municipalities, utilities, and other entities involved at the project level. </li><li>Other job duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Travel required during on and off work hours throughout Colorado to regional testing labs. </li><li>Required to operate CDOT Vehicles </li><li>May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays during construction season. </li><li>May require working longer irregular work schedule including evenings. </li><li>Occasional overnight travel for work and/or training in other cities. </li><li>Must be able to lift 50 lbs and up to 100 lbs. </li><li>Requires a current Colorado driver's license. </li><li>May be exposed to hazardous materials. </li><li>Required to work in all weather conditions, including exposure to cold and heat, as well as working near heavy traffic </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Experience Only:</p> <ul> <li>Four (4) years of experience monitoring construction projects, conducting or assisting with materials testing, or inspecting construction projects. </li></ul> <p>OR</p> <p> </p> <p>Experience & Education:</p> <p>A combination of relevant education and experience equal to at least four (4) years that includes:</p> <ul> <li>Coursework from a U.S. accredited college or university in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, or another field of study related to the duties of this position will be considered. </li><li>Full-time professional work monitoring construction projects, conducting or assisting with materials testing, or inspecting construction projects. </li></ul> <p>Please Note: The required experience must be substantiated within the work experience section of your application.
