The primary objective is to provide a high-quality food service program that meets the nutritional and educational needs of students while ensuring program integrity and financial sustainability. The Director partners with school administrators, parents, and the community to foster healthy food habits and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local guidelines.</p> <p>Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Position</p> <p>Salary: Annual salary range: $70,900 to $94,100, commensurate with experience and skills.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Bachelor's degree in food management, food and nutrition, culinary arts or related field from an accredited college or university preferred. Successful related experience may be substituted for degree. Registered dietitian desirable, but not necessary. </li><li>Certification: School Nutrition Association Certified </li><li>Integrity: Must demonstrate the highest ethical standards and commitment to the district's vision. </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li>Operational: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Responsible for overall management of all activities of food service program. </li><li>Ensure compliance with all Coventry Board of Education, Health Department, Department of Education, and United States Department of Agriculture policies and regulations. </li><li>Enforce federal and state standards for food purchase, preparation and serving. </li><li>Plan and analyze school breakfast and lunch menus to ensure USDA Meal Pattern and nutritional requirements are met. </li><li>Purchase food and supplies as necessary for program operation through weekly, monthly, and bid/quote procedures, consistent with USDA and state purchasing guidelines. </li><li>Ensure established sanitation and safety standards are maintained. </li><li>Oversee monthly and annual inventories for food, supplies, and equipment. </li><li>Oversee maintenance of records as required for the Department of Education and USDA, including claim reimbursements, free and reduced lunch applications, production records, and daily operational forms. Submit required reports promptly to proper authorities. </li><li>Coordinate all equipment maintenance and building repairs with the appropriate school district personnel or private service provider. </li><li>Plan marketing and merchandising promotions with vendors, building administrators, teachers, PTO committees, and students as needed. </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Administration: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Provide annually to the Finance Director, a statement of goals for the food service program, a financial plan and monthly updates as required. </li><li>Assess customer preference, industry trends, and current research to develop a long-range plan to facilitate continuous program improvement. </li><li>Provide positive communication between building administrators, custodial and maintenance staff, teaching staff, and food service employees. </li><li>Develop a public relations program that promotes the school nutrition services to students, parents, other school personnel, and the community. Respond to comments and concerns by same. </li><li>Develop and implement a catering plan that is consistent with Board of Education policy. </li><li>Recommend changes in the food service procedures and policies as necessary to the Director of Finance and Superintendent. </li></ul> <p>3.Fiscal</p> <ul> <li>Develop an annual budget for the food service program. </li><li>Direct monthly/annual inventories and maintain all records for claim reimbursements and free/reduced lunch applications. </li><li>Develop a long-range capital equipment plan and update annually for compliance with health and facility codes. </li><li>Prepare and submit financial reports to the Director of Finance. </li><li>Evaluate financial reports and make operational changes as necessary to meet objectives and maintain an adequate surplus level. </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li>Personnel </li></ol> <ul> <li>Maintain an efficient food service program and a high-quality food service staff by recruiting, selecting, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating all food service personnel. </li></ul> <ol start="5"> <li>Other </li></ol> <ul> <li>Other duties as they relate to the food service program as assigned by the Administration </li></ul> <p>Application Procedure: Apply Online: Coventry Online Application</p> <p>Please submit the following items:</p> <ul> <li>Completed application </li><li>Cover Letter </li><li>Resume </li><li>Three recent letters of reference </li><li>Copies of certifications held </li></ul> <p>Coventry Public Schools aims to increase the diversity of our staff as part of our commitment to provide outstanding services to all students, staff, and the community.
