<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Head Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the Athletic Director and supervises the care of student-athletes competing in the College's athletic program. This position is a full-time,10-month position.</p> <p>Directs the athletic training for Intercollegiate Athletics and oversees the athletic training room. Coordinates medical coverage for athletic events. Manages Athletic Trainers in the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Determines, with advice from physician, when and at what level an athlete can return to participation in a sport. Directs departmental operations, including the development and implementation of department policies, processes, and procedures.</p> <p>Essential Functions of the Position:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide/direct medical services to teams, and assists in the supervision of medical services for all student-athletes to include:</p> </li><li> <p>Prevention of athletic injuries</p> </li><li> <p>Recognition and evaluation of athletic injuries</p> </li><li> <p>Acute care of athletic injuries</p> </li><li> <p>Rehabilitation of athletic injuries</p> </li><li> <p>Sports will vary based on the staffing</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the organization and administration of athletic training to include:</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and participate in pre-participation physical examinations for all athletes</p> </li><li> <p>Maintaining and supervising the maintenance of accurate medical records for all athletes</p> </li><li> <p>Coverage of athletic team practices and events by the athletic training staff pending staff availability</p> </li><li> <p>Informing the coaching staff of the physical and emotional status of their athletes as it pertains to their participation in that particular sport.</p> </li><li> <p>Travel with athletic teams as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Education and advising of athletes regarding personal health.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains regular communication with team physicians.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise Athletic trainers, Athletes, and Athletic Training Students (from athletic training programs & immersive students). Works with the Athletics Director on the development and maintenance of policies and procedures. May also receive direction from the Team Medical Director, and Team Physician(s).</p> </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Required Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Proficient use of athletic training supplies and equipment, therapeutic modalities, computer, and software. </li><li>Strong supervisory skills to facilitate a positive, engaging work environment. </li><li>Ability to manage emergency situations while maintaining a calm demeanor and providing professional care. </li><li>Demonstrated teamwork mindset prioritizing the student athlete at all times. </li></ul> <p>Required Experience & Education:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred. </li><li>BOC Certified in Athletic Training </li><li>Ohio Licensed in Athletic Training </li><li>Two to four years of experience in college athletic training preferred. </li><li>American Red Cross (ARC) Instructor Certifications in Responding to Emergencies and CPR for the Professional Rescuer is preferred, but not required. </li></ul> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, and contact information for three professional references.
