CASA opens in September, 2025 with 200 students in grades 6 and 9 and will over three years to a full grade 6-12 school. CASA will integrate advanced curricula, interdisciplinary project-based learning, and real-world applications to inspire and engage students from diverse backgrounds.</p> <p>CASA utilizes the unique opportunities within the Lynn community to build innovative, responsive, and meaningful project-based learning experiences for all students. Our commitment to a dynamic schedule allows students to learn in authentic, collaborative, and inter/transdisciplinary ways. Because teacher collaboration and inspiration is foundational to our curriculum, we ensure common planning time and ongoing professional development for our faculty. Community partners are at the heart of our connections to Lynn, and we are supported by abundant, sustainable, nourishing, and reciprocal community partnerships across the arts and sciences.</p> <p>CASA's current mission is to inspire designers and artists to use creativity, critical thinking, and experimentation to imagine and cultivate a future vested in community.</p> <p>CASA's current core values:</p> <ul> <li>Visionary </li><li>Courageous </li><li>Flexible </li></ul> <p>Who is a CASA Faculty member?</p> <p>CASA faculty are unique and essential partners in creating an environment that fosters excellence and cultivates tomorrow's leaders in STEM and the Arts.</p> <p>A CASA faculty member:</p> <ul> <li>Creates and researches project-based learning experiences that are engaging, educational and exciting for students. </li><li>CASA faculty welcomes the flexibility of being part of an emergent team and is willing to respond to the changing needs of a creative, innovative learning and teaching environment. </li><li>CASA faculty are enthusiastic about developing a project-based classroom; modifying and expanding existing curriculum to respond to the needs of the students at any given time. </li><li>Plans, prepares, and delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences. </li><li>Incorporates goals, competencies, and objectives into lesson plans in ways that directly apply to the student's lived experience and to the Lynn community. </li><li>Collaborates with community partners and other teachers. </li></ul> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Collaborate, participate in, and lead the creation of an integrated interdisciplinary arts-infused, project-based curriculum including developing and assessing exhibitions.</p> </li><li> <p>Along with other faculty, participate in strategic planning and department management. Areas include but are not limited to assessment, piloting and creating new curricula, piloting and creating cross-discipline short and long-term projects, implementing technology, student case management, and exhibition/competition/partnership participation.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate regularly with parents/caregivers about student progress.</p> </li><li> <p>Accept flexible assignments, such as team and interdisciplinary teaching, working with different age groups and ability levels, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with university, college, and community collaborators.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform general administrative tasks associated with teaching, learning, and data cycles.</p> </li><li> <p>Align the teaching and learning cycles to connect to school-wide student learning expectations and school-wide learning experiences.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in a paid, forty-hour summer institute.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>Job Details:</p> <p>Instructional Planning & Teaching</p> <ul> <li>Design and implement standards-based (MA Arts Curriculum Frameworks) lesson plans with clear objectives in three-dimensional studio arts. </li><li>Teach foundational and advanced techniques in sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media, emphasizing form, balance, texture, and spatial awareness. </li><li>Guide students in working with a variety of materials, such as clay, wood, plaster, metal, found objects, and fiber arts. </li><li>Introduce hand-building, wheel-throwing, and ceramic glazing techniques to support a robust clay program. </li><li>Engage students in exploratory and experimental approaches to sculptural forms, incorporating sustainable and unconventional materials. </li><li>Encourage students to develop a personal artistic voice through hands-on projects and creative problem-solving. </li><li>Integrate historical and contemporary sculptors, particularly those from diverse cultural backgrounds, into the curriculum to foster artistic awareness. </li><li>Support students in portfolio development for post-secondary education or career pathways in fine arts, sculpture, ceramics, and related fields. </li></ul> <p>Assessment & Student Growth</p> <ul> <li>Use a variety of formal and informal assessments (sketchbook planning, critiques, rubrics, exhibitions) to measure student progress. </li><li>Support students in analyzing and discussing their work and the work of others through structured critiques. </li><li>Foster risk-taking and iterative design, emphasizing process as well as final outcomes. </li></ul> <p>Classroom & Studio Environment</p> <ul> <li>Establish a functional and inspiring 3D studio, ensuring proper safety protocols for tools, kilns, and materials. </li><li>Maintain studio spaces, tools, and equipment, including clay reclaiming, kiln operation, and sculpture workstations. </li><li>Foster a collaborative studio culture where students take ownership of materials and workspace responsibilities. </li><li>Incorporate culturally responsive teaching practices that celebrate diverse traditions in sculpture and three-dimensional art. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration & Professional Development</p> <ul> <li>Work collaboratively with CASA's interdisciplinary faculty to develop cross-curricular projects. </li><li>Engage in ongoing professional learning related to sculpture, ceramics, and fine arts instruction. </li><li>Participate in school-wide exhibitions, showcases, and community arts events. </li><li>Mentor students interested in fine arts careers, apprenticeships, and local/regional art competitions. </li></ul> <p>School Engagement & Additional Duties</p> <ul> <li>Participate in CASA's unique project-based learning initiatives. </li><li>Organize and curate student work for school exhibitions, public showcases, and local galleries. </li><li>Serve as an advisor or mentor for students in art-related extracurriculars. </li><li>Perform additional duties as assigned by the school leadership team. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license in the specific subject area(s) in Art/Visual Art 5-12.</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; Master's Degree preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>SEI Endorsement as applicable.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in urban schools preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Enthusiasm for and/or experience with project-based learning, multidisciplinary curriculum, STEAM pedagogy, and the willingness to develop professionally in these areas.</p> </li><li> <p>A desire to increase skills and ability to deliver strong, innovative, project-based learning across many disciplines.</p> </li><li> <p>Commitment to the arts as an important element in a complete education.</p> </li><li> <p>Commitment to cultural, ethnic, and linguistic diversity as an element in a complete education.</p> </li><li> <p>Commitment to and demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction in the classroom.</p> </li><li> <p>Enthusiasm and eagerness to work at a new school, be a founding team member, and build school culture.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to take on responsibilities and prioritize quickly.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work in an innovative, collaborative, diverse school.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication skills and critical thinking skills.</p> </li><li> <p>A desire to lead an Advisory and to develop professional skills in SEL, Human Development, and Social Justice.</p> </li></ol> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <ul> <li>As negotiated with Lynn School Committee and Lynn Teachers Union. </li><li>180 days per year </li><li>Teacher Salary Estimator </li></ul> <p>BENEFITS: The City of Lynn offers comprehensive and competitive health and dental benefits;
