<p>Hourly:</p> <p>$19.20 - $19.20</p> <p>Department:</p> <p>Culture & Recreation, Recreation Programs</p> <p>Division:</p> <p>Recreation Environmental Programs</p> <p>FLSA:</p> <p>Non-Exempt</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Summer Seasonal Position</p> <p>Must be 18 years old by hire date.</p> <p>This role will be responsible for leading the Nuts About Nature Summer Camp, located at the Tiedemann Park Environmental Education Center.</p> <p>Examples of Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Assists with all aspects of the Nuts About Nature Summer Camp. </li><li>Develops, plans, and leads various activities, games, and lesson plans for predetermined environmental and nature-related weekly topics. </li><li>Communicates and interacts effectively with both kids and adults. </li><li>Manages opening and closing responsibilities, including maintaining a key to the facility and building alarm code. </li><li>Provides a safe and welcoming environment. </li><li>Cares for resident education animals. </li><li>Works and coordinates with other camp staff. </li><li>Maintains punctuality. </li></ul> <p>Basic Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Must have a flexible work schedule that may include early mornings, late afternoons and weekends, depending on programs scheduled on any given week </li><li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 3 - 6 months of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>Is fully available for all weeks (Monday through Friday) in June and July, with the exception of June 30th to July 4th. </li><li>Primary daily work times will be 8:00am - 1:00pm </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree, or pursuit thereof, in biology, ecology, marine sciences, education or a related field. </li></ul> <p>The City of Charleston is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity ( EEOC) as a fundamental policy to be implemented and observed in our daily operation.
