After successfully completing the mandatory police officer training conducted by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission, the UPO I must then successfully complete a one-year probationary period. At that time, the UPO I position promotes to a UPO II.</p> <p>University Police Officer II (UPO II) - Lateral Transfers:</p> <p>Applicants who have satisfactorily completed a Maryland Police Training Commission recognized or approved Police Academy Training program and a Police Field Training program and have been certified as a sworn Police Officer recognized by the Maryland Police Training Commission may be appointed at the rank of University Police Officer II. Responsible for patrol, crime prevention, criminal investigation, special event security, and other law enforcement and security duties as assigned.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>UPO I</p> <p>High school diploma or GED, valid non-commercial Class C or equivalent driver's license. Employees in this job class are required to achieve and maintain certification as specified by the Maryland Police Training Commission and must meet the minimum standards of appointment for Probationary Police Officer as established by the Maryland Police Training Commission.</p> <p>UPO II</p> <p>Certification as a sworn police officer recognized by the Maryland Police Training Commission and a Field Training program. A total of five times, or</p> <p>ii.
