Requires a working knowledge of standard practices and procedures.</p> <p>Licenses & Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Medical Technologist </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Additional continuing education credits may be required to maintain certification as deemed by certifying agencies. </li><li>MT (ASCP/AMT/AAB/NCA/HHS/HEW) </li><li>Prefer minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience. </li></ul> <p>Area of Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates the ability to be self-directed and capable of independent follow-up. </li><li>Identifies and corrects technical problems quickly and notifies appropriate personnel, physician, department, etc. </li><li>Oversees the work performance of MLT, MT and phlebotomy personnel for designated shift. </li><li>Responsible for assisting in the training and evaluation of personnel assigned to the shift by monitoring the manner in which they carry out laboratory duties. </li><li>Responsible for assuring that incoming work and test results are reported in an accurate and timely manner. A pending log is reviewed to ensure work is completed. </li><li>Complies with standards set forth by all regulatory agencies. </li><li>Demonstrates organizational skills utilizing time, equipment and supplies well. </li><li>Knowledgeable of and follows OSHA's blood borne pathogen regulations thus using universal precautions, wearing appropriate PPE's at all times and adhering to no eating, drinking, applying make-up or removing contacts while in the lab. </li><li>Listens to customer complaints/suggestions attentively and reports appropriately. </li><li>Maintains technical competence through active participation in available continuing education activities. </li><li>Participates in performance improvement opportunities. </li><li>Participates in the orientation and training of new personnel and student interns. </li><li>Performs accurately and documents all quality control and instrument maintenance. </li><li>Performs laboratory testing in all designated sections of the laboratory in an accurate and timely manner. </li><li>Performs phlebotomy when required in a proficient and timely manner. </li><li>Recognizes and responds to all critical values and delta checks. </li><li>Responsible for emergency and on-call duty if applicable. </li></ul> <p>Compliance Statement</p> <p>Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Ingenuity and judgment are required to review facts, plan work, estimate costs, and deal with factors not easily evaluated, interpret results, draw conclusions, and take or recommend action. Solutions to problems often require coordination with other departments.</p> <p>Physical Effort</p> <p>Moderate physical effort - Lifts, carries, or handles lightweight (1 to 25 lbs.) materials or equipment for about half of the day. Very occasional physical effort with medium weight objects (25- 60 lbs.). Office or laboratory work requires close visual effort and concentration more than half of day.
