<p>Job Title: Phlebotomist I (1ST SHIFT FULL TIME M-F)</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The Phlebotomist I works in a fast-paced clinical laboratory and patient service setting in Tulsa, OK, supporting patient care through accurate and timely specimen collection, processing, and handling. This role combines hands-on phlebotomy with strong customer service, ensuring patients feel informed and comfortable while all samples meet strict quality, safety, and documentation standards.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles to collect blood specimens safely and efficiently. </li><li>Conduct high-volume blood draws in a hospital or laboratory setting while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor. </li><li>Collect, label, centrifuge, process, and store specimens according to established protocols to ensure sample integrity. </li><li>Verify patient identity using appropriate identifiers and ensure accurate documentation for all specimens collected. </li><li>Match laboratory requisitions to collected specimens, confirming tests ordered and resolving discrepancies as needed. </li><li>Prepare and package specimens for transport, following all regulatory and internal guidelines. </li><li>Maintain specimen integrity by adhering to proper storage, handling, and processing procedures. </li><li>Communicate procedures clearly and professionally with patients to provide a positive and reassuring experience. </li><li>Assist with troubleshooting issues related to specimen collection or processing and contribute to workflow improvements. </li><li>Support training efforts for team members as needed by sharing knowledge of procedures and best practices. </li><li>Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and all safety and infection control policies at all times during specimen collection and processing. </li><li>Use basic computer applications to enter, review, and update patient and specimen information accurately. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience in a hospital or laboratory setting, preferably with high-volume blood draws. </li><li>Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques, including venipuncture and blood draws using straight and butterfly needles. </li><li>Demonstrated experience with specimen collection, labeling, centrifugation, processing, storage, and transport preparation. </li><li>Ability to verify patient identity accurately and maintain precise documentation for all specimens. </li><li>Knowledge of and adherence to OSHA and DEP regulations and standard safety practices in a clinical environment. </li><li>Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical laboratory or patient service setting. </li><li>Basic computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and laboratory-related systems for data entry and documentation. </li><li>High School Diploma or GED. </li><li>Phlebotomy certification, as required by applicable state regulations. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience working in inpatient or similar healthcare environments. </li><li>Familiarity with healthcare management and laboratory workflows. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and clinical staff. </li><li>Ability to assist with troubleshooting and workflow improvements in specimen collection and processing. </li><li>Willingness to support training and mentoring of colleagues when needed. </li><li>Reliable, patient-focused approach with strong attention to detail and quality. </li></ul> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract position based out of Tulsa, OK.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
