<p>The Millis Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Coordinator for the 2025-2026 school year. The Special Education Coordinator is a hybrid role that combines part-time (.5) administrative responsibilities with part-time (.5) team chair duties. This position ensures compliance with special education regulations, oversees the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and provides support to students with special needs. The Special Education Coordinator collaborates with teachers, staff, parents, and external agencies to create an inclusive and effective educational environment.</p> <p>Responsibilities include: Acts as the Out of District Coordinator for the district. Serves as the chairperson for TEAM evaluation meetings within the district.. Prepares paperwork for Initial/Reevaluation referrals for the special education eligibility process. Carries out all mandates as outlined by the Federal IDEA and as defined under Chapter 766 of the Massachusetts General Laws and in the implementation of all programs and placements as determined by the TEAM Evaluation Process. Responsible for the provision of services to students identified with special needs. Evaluates paraprofessionals across the district. Assists in the coordination and implementation of staff professional development. Attends DESE conferences and participates actively in professional organizations. Assists the Director of Student Support Services with the DESE Integrated Monitoring (audit). Assists the Director of Student Support Services in coordinating testing and diagnostic procedures as they relate to special education. Assists the Director of Student Support Services and Principals in finding the best combination of educational programs, and other services, for students with special needs. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, guardians and the community in a way that promotes a high level of honest and respectful communication. Adheres to professional codes of ethics: maintains trust and confidentiality; models legally and morally responsible actions at all times; treats individuals with fairness, dignity, and respect; and models the core values of the school and district.</p> <p>Job Requirements Qualifications:</p> <p>Master's Degree in Education required. Massachusetts DESE Certification as a Special Education Teacher required. Massachusetts DESE Certification as a Special Education Administrator or Director required. Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing the provision of special education and the special education process required. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar role preferred.
