<p>American Welding & Gas, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Counter Representative person in our Columbia, SC location.</p> <p>Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with ordering and purchasing products (industrial, medical, food grade, specialty gases along with welding/industrial supplies). Performing material handling functions within the branches.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Support customer experience in store and via phone when ordering and purchasing products through cash and charge account transactions </li><li>Assist with administrative duties including daily transaction reconciliation, filing, end of day processing and opening/closing the store </li><li>Ensure inventory is organized and properly stored in the warehouse; stock showroom as needed </li><li>Receive and process inbound freight, including logging, receiving purchase orders and filling backorders </li><li>Assist branch manager in achieving and/or surpassing targeted budgeted sales projections </li><li>Assist branch manager with building and equipment maintenance </li><li>Assist Territory Managers to actively review and manage existing customer Accounts Receivable balances to help minimize working capital investment and financial risk. </li><li>Call on "house" accounts with annual sales below $10,000 to increase sales volume and frequency. </li><li>Grow the sales with those customers through telemarketing of other products. </li><li>Conduct cylinder exchanges, purchases and returns </li><li>Fill various types of cylinders </li><li>Maintain fill records to ensure compliance and accountability </li><li>Follow and comply with all company safety policies </li><li>May assist in deliveries as needed </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma/GED </li><li>Previous customer services experience required </li><li>1-3 years of previous sales experience </li><li>Knowledge of welding and gas products strongly preferred. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills required Knowledge of welding processes and gas supplies preferred </li><li>Able to lift 75 pounds; maneuver 100+ pounds with mechanical assistance (rolling cart, pallet jack, etc.) </li><li>Proficient Microsoft Office computer skills preferred </li><li>Detail oriented; team player and adaptable </li><li>Must have Clean Driving Record </li></ul> <p>Physical requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Lifting, bending, twisting, climbing, crouching, kneeling </li><li>Repetitive movement </li><li>Operating motorized equipment </li><li>Sitting; standing; walking </li><li>Working indoor/outdoor as business needs </li><li>Working at increased noise levels </li><li>Safety hazards </li></ul> <p>American Welding & Gas (AWG) is a manufacturer and distributor of industrial gases as well as a provider of all your welding supply needs.
