<p>Thank you for considering a career at Mercy College of Ohio!</p> <p>Scheduled Weekly Hours:</p> <p>40</p> <p>Work Shift:</p> <p>Days (United States of America)</p> <p>Primary Function/General Purpose of Position</p> <p>The Director of Governance and Compliance provides direct management of compliance with federal, state, accreditation requirements for academic programs, manages board and external relations, addresses issue of risk and crisis management, manages policy and institutional document alignment/updates. Collaborates with leaders to plan, implement, lead, and manage implementation of initiatives designed to impact key performance indicators across multiple units.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Regulatory and Accreditation Compliance: Collaborate with leadership to review, update, and ensure adherence to accreditation standards, Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and pertinent state and federal laws and regulations. Serves as Title IX coordinator.</p> </li><li> <p>Legal Compliance and Risk Management: Work proactively with legal counsel to address compliance requirements, manage regulatory reporting, and oversee matters such as claims, lawsuits, new programs, ventures, and contractual agreements with vendors and institutions.</p> </li><li> <p>Governance Support: Contribute to consistent application, update, and maintenance of documented governance practices to ensure engagement to support decision-making, accountability, & risk management.</p> </li><li> <p>Policy and Document Management: Partner with institutional leaders to review, align, update, and disseminate board policies and key publications, including College Catalogs, Program Handbooks, and Faculty/Staff Handbooks.</p> </li><li> <p>Risk Identification and Resolution: Anticipate and address risks involving students, employees, vendors, and external entities; provide timely updates to senior leadership on critical issues; and serve as a liaison among campus leaders, faculty, staff, and students to safeguard the institution's reputation.</p> </li><li> <p>Compliance Education and Training: Develop and deliver training programs to ensure compliance with Title IX, FERPA, HIPAA, and other relevant regulations to ensure staff and faculty are informed about compliance requirement and best practices; create and distribute educational materials related to higher education and healthcare legal and compliance matters.</p> </li><li> <p>Committee Leadership and Participation: Lead and serve on committees across various entities to promote governance and compliance effectiveness.</p> </li></ul> <p>This document is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, or working conditions associated with the job. Employees may be required to perform other job-related duties as required by their supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodation.</p> <p>Licensing/Certification</p> <p>Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)</p> <p>Education</p> <p>Master's Degree in Law and Governance, Legal Studies, Risk Management, Compliance or related studies (required).</p> <p>Juris Doctorate Degree (preferred).</p> <p>Work Experience</p> <p>5 years of leadership experience in institutional compliance and project management/ institutional planning in a higher education, healthcare, or related setting.</p> <p>Experience with Healthcare Higher Education Accreditation Standards: Familiarity with institutional accreditation and regulatory compliance processes is critical.</p> <p>Training</p> <p>Project Management Certification: such as PMP (Project Management Professional), emphasizing the operational management aspects of the role.
