<p>DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK</p> <p>MINIMUM AGE: 18 Years Hours of Work:Employee must be available on a part-time basis (15-25 hours per week) from mid-May until the schools are closed for summer, then 35-40 hours per week for the summer months through Labor Day. Employee must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays. Please do not plan on taking an extended vacation. Assigned park locations may change throughout the season.</p> <p>General Description: This employee assists with supervision in local municipal parks. The employee is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a community park(s). You will be required to clean comfort stations (restrooms) and pick-up trash throughout the park. Supervision is exercised over a group of park aides. The employee is responsible for making sure all Park Aides duties are executed. The employee handles all complaints from the public and prepares all necessary records and reports. The employee may be required to attend weekly staff meetings and assists in keeping the park aides informed of departmental rules and policies. The employee will report directly to a Recreation Supervisor or Park Ranger, and inform them immediately of any significant event in their assigned park.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Follows all employee (and pool) rules and regulations. </li><li>Assists with supervision of employees assigned to the park. </li><li>Enforces discipline among employees and patrons. </li><li>Prepares records and reports in a neat and timely fashion. </li><li>Establishes and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. </li><li>Enforce park/pool rules and regulations with tact. </li><li>Wears required uniform. </li><li>Attends required in-service training. </li><li>Oversees park facilities and park aides scheduled hours. </li><li>Provides general information and resolves problems and complaints from staff and from individuals utilizing the parks and pools. </li><li>Patrols the park areas and reports safety concerns directly to the Recreation Supervisor, Park Ranger and/or the Dearborn Police Department. </li><li>Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the park facilities and equipment. </li><li>Checks sport and park permits and manages large groups utilizing the facilities. </li><li>Maintains and reports accurate payroll records for his/her employees. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Strong communication skills and ability to work with general public. </li><li>Ability to lead, instruct, and advise individuals on proper use of strength equipment, cardiovascular equipment, and machine use in the fitness areas. </li><li>Knowledge of Dearborn Recreation programs and policies preferred. </li><li>Ability to perform duties while standing or walking the entire shift. </li><li>Ability to move equipment that could weigh 50 pounds or more. </li><li>Experience with fitness equipment and general training guidelines from past dance or sport training preferred. </li></ul> <p>EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING/LICENSING REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Work experience that reflects the ability to effectively supervise and manage employees. </li><li>Ability to speak with, work with, and rationally resolve conflict with the public. </li><li>Must have a valid state of Michigan driver's license. </li><li>NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: </li></ul> <p>Must submit to a criminal history, sex offender registry check (if applicable) and drug screen.</p>
